I just upgraded to a linksys mesh. I am watching this so I can clean inside my 1900 ACS and then it's going back into service because my shiny new mesh network is only slightly more capable than a potato.

I think Linksys missed the point with this rougher. People moded the old 54G because it could give them enterprise performance and options at a low cost.

I still have my 54G running dd-wrt. I love it. This new one looks interesting, but I'm going to wait a bit and see what pans out on it before I make a 300.00 jump. I jumped on a 200.00 D-Link and I'm still smarting from that, which is also why I still have my 54G. Faultless and ALWAYS reliable.

Since I got gig fiber, my WRT3200ACM reboots every 30 minutes. I bought a second new WRT3200ACM, set it up and swapped it in and it too rebooted within ten minutes of installation. They both have the last firmware that Linksys released. I don't understand why a new router is rebooting as often as the 6 year old router it replaced. Evidently not the hardware failing. Something's wrong with the design.

If I want faster internet, do I have to change my broadband provider or router>
@BrownieX001
@BrownieX001 10 жыл бұрын
If you have to ask that question then this router is not for you. The WAN internet increases with your broadband provider and the LAN internet will increase with the router. Things like streaming things in home, NAS backups are LAN and your web browsing is WAN. Wide-Area vs Local-Area.

What speed do I have to have from my internet provider to match up an AC router?
@Tendron20
@Tendron20 10 жыл бұрын
If by match you mean fully saturate the gigabit ethernet port, then you need a fiber based connection. Basically the router will do its best with whatever provider you have. Assuming that your in the western world, the advertised speeds for internet packages are commonly only what the connection is capable of reaching and not the actual throughput of the line on a regular basis. So they don't really have to provide you with what your paying for as long as they claim that the line is capable of it. Monopolies are fun when you can't vote with your wallet by going to another provider because they were all bought out of the market by the larger telecommunication companies.

Well for $300, if I can make a m-itx build optimized for internet routing, or even take an old computer and mod it appropriately for cheaper, I think it would be more beneficial to do so. But I always liked Linksys routers and it might be worth an upgrade.
