Stay tuned for the next Randomizer Part, dropping next week on this channel! 👀 Also before I get flamed by the KZbin Comment Section, Let me just state my opinion about Skyward Sword here: It's a decent game. Story and Music is amazing, some of the dungeons have great game designs. There is a lot to like about Skyward Sword, and if you love this game more power to you, I wish I could see Skyward Sword out of your eyes LMAO I have also played the HD version and does think that the motion controls are much better there, sadly the Randomizer doesn't support that version. For me, I find that this game has a LOT of repetition, way too slow of an early game, bad stamina system, and the motion controls on the Wii Version does get better once you are used to them, but every now and then when they do fail, or when you need to re-calibrate the controller, it just feels frustrating because motions controls add in my opinion 0 value, and only the occasional frustration factor which takes me out of the enjoyment. Something else to keep in mind, I am playing this on an emulator, which is worse than it is on the Wii. I think people saying this game would only be good if it didn't have motion controls are wrong, you should give it another chance if that was the reason you didn't like it, it gets better with time trust me, and the HD version does it way better. I remember talking to Gymnast about the Motion Control (one of the best Skyward Sword Speedrunners in the world), and he told me this "I think Nintendo designed the motion controls around how they imagined that the most natural way would be to control the character and sword, so if your mentality and assumption matches how Nintendo envisioned it, you will have no issue with it. But for players that have a different perspective or play style in how things should control, it will cause frustration". And I 100% agree with that, I have completed Skyward Sword twice casually, the first time I really hated how the game controlled, but once I tried to control the game in a way that I felt the game "wanted me to", it went from "I HATE THIS" to "This is okay". That doesn't mean it doesn't frustrate me at times, and thankfully the HD version does allow me to swing the joycons in a more natural way for me, which is way better. Like I said, its a pretty decent game with ups and down. Not the worst Zelda Game, but also not the best one. Feel free to leave a comment letting me know what your experience was with the game.

I think a big reason why people like this video game is because they know how to actually play the game. Like they know how to use motion controls and actually play the game the way it was intended. Meanwhile the complaints are people who just flick the remote and expect it to respond when the game explicitly tells you to swing the remote.
@IOwnKazakhstan2 жыл бұрын
I know right? Like all the people I know in my life that have actually played the game as intended, all think it is inarguably one of the best zelda games. The OST is insane, the dungeons are so inventive and well made, the art style is cartoony without being too kiddy. (also a really long zelda game) It's just a well rounded game, the only people I know that don't like it, don't read the literal opening warnings of every Wii game and refuse to not use it like a normal controller. Scroll through these comments and you see so many people saying this is their favorite zelda game.

I feel like the people who hate the game are the people who are allergic to the words "motion controls" and expected to have a bad time so whenever things didn't go as they expected it just reinforced the idea in their mind that the game is bad even though it's pretty good.
@heathersmith40422 жыл бұрын
If so many people have an issue with getting the motion controls to respond properly, do you really think that it's all just lazy assholes flicking the controller and then claiming it doesn't work? The controls worked great about 70% of the time for me, and the other 30% was battling with them. Compare that with a game with buttons only, where the controls work perfectly 100% of the time. People are going to get frustrated when the difficulty is coming from trying to find the swing that the motion controls want you to do, and then get even more frustrated when assholes insist "well I bet you're just LYING about your experience because you're too stupid to understand the instructions! couldn't possibly be a legitimate issue, you're just a liar"

I won’t lie Every person in real life that I’ve heard complain about motion controls either executes them horribly wrong (like putting the motion tracker in the worst place humanly possible, or standing/sitting one foot away from the tracker which isn’t how it works which I can see Linkus is clearly doing😂), or take ZERO CARE of their controllers, slamming them on shit, swinging them hyper aggressively, throwing them, and so on. I can count on one hand the amount of times in my 15+ years of playing motion control games where the motion tracking was wonky, and it was *usually* my fault. 1 or 2 exceptions of just buggy shit, but that’s hardly anything. I’m convinced people who complain about motion controls just have a serious skill issue, sorry not sorry. 🤷🏼♂️ “I SWUNG AND IT DIDN’T REGISTER!!!” *meanwhile the swing in question:* literally moves the controller like two inches while also being right next to the motion tracker

I agree that motion control not working is often because people aren't using it correctly, like 99% of the time, but you don't always have the room to set the sensor far enough away and properly swinging is annoying. I think a lot of the complaints for motion controls is more about it just not adding anything or being particularly fun in most cases. There are absolutely exceptions, VR nowadays is an example of motion control being amazing, and there are individual games or sections in lots of games where motion control DOES add something. But when the Wii first came out, the games just had motion controls because that was the Wii's thing so they had to. They didn't add anything and just made it annoying, I found. I've played a ton of Zelda games, and I actually really enjoyed Skyward Sword myself, but swinging the Wii Remote didn't make me feel more immersed, it was annoying and I did it because I had to in order to play the game. Pushing the A button was far more enjoyable a gaming experience for me. Aiming the bow, however, actually wasn't bad though; that's something where motion control adds something and made it better.

Twilight princess is my favorite Zelda game, but the motion controls was my biggest problem with the wii version of the game. The motion controls are also the biggest reason I hate skyward sword, like honestly, you give us a Zelda game with an ass story, a butchered version of twilight princesses art style, and for the cherry on top you want me to swing my arm around like an idiot? Yeah no thanks, the only reason I bared it for the wii version for twilight princess is because twilight princess is an actually good Zelda game. The baseline though is that I play Zelda games to have fun, not to stand in place and swing my arm around like I'm playing pretend. They could've easily improved the switch version if they added an option to where you could play with usual Zelda controls instead of the motion controls.

Skyward sword is a very fun game though once the HD version ironed out all of its weird kinks. You make the texts scroll way faster, tighten up the scripts, make all cutscenes skippable, and give us traditional controls, the game suddenly cuts down about 10 hours of fluff. The game just has loads of little details you can appreciate. The entire game's regions are designed like one big dungeon to explore too. Granted, not all regions are created equal but even on the wii version, the level design stood out in a good way.

@malpheus4299 Жыл бұрын
@@pemanilnoob Like I said, the game is bad I don't need to elaborate, fight me. But if you want honest reasons why: 1. The introduction segment of this game goes on FAR too long and it takes ages until you actually get into the combat and dungeons. Barely any of it is plot relevant or character building too except the latter part where Zelda is snatched. 2. Unskippable cutscenes. This was resolved on HD I hear, but my experience was with the game on release. 3. A stamina system that impacts literally every form of movement including a damn boat. It just becomes restrictive and slows you down while exploring the land or sea, even Dark Souls 2 stamina is not this egregious. 4. Fi. Absolutely everything about Fi. A bland boring personality that is a blatant attempt to replicate Midna with the similar speech and more humanoid appearance. However, she completely lacks Midna's personality, character motivations and actually having massive plot relevance like in TP. 5. The dowsing rod as a concept wouldn't be bad for certain things but it is overused to drive the narrative. Much of the games "in-between" sections revolve around fetching something using it. 6. Bow placement. By the time I get the bow ingame I barely get to use it much before the finale. I understand this was to try and make the slingshot more useful early on, but I honestly think it would have been simpler to just not have a slingshot. 7. Block spamming by enemies is a bit of an issue. It definitely makes combat slightly more technical in theory to give enemies directional blocking when you have motion controls. However, as a result of this the simplest solution past their defense is simply spam swinging the remote into their side. If you choose to wait for an opening it causes some encounters to go on far too long. 8. The entire narrative. Demise as an origin story for ganon and the continuous cycle of conflict just felt absolutely stale and had no build-up. Ghirahim was actually a far more interesting and compelling villain, he could have made a far better finale by backstabbing his master for power. 9. Worst of all, a huge portion of the screen is taken up by the Wii-mote HUD and it cannot be completely disabled. There you go, those are some of the main reasons skyward was an inferior experience for me just off the top of my head.

Please do a full playthrough of this game, and don't skip the cutseens or dialogue. When you realize the awesomeness of this game, maybe watch Zeltik's video on the plot. There are thousands of people that love this game, and I am one of them. Just because you are a speedrunner, doesn't mean games that are more fun casually aren't good. I fully support and enjoy speedrunning, but only if the reasoning is that the person loves the game and already played through it many times casually and wants to experience it in a new and fun way. skyard sword is my second favrite zelda game of all time (next to windwaker of course.) The story is what kept me on edge, as well as the fun gameplay. SERIOUSLY! IT HAS AN AMAZING, IMMERSIVE PLOT!

i grew up with the wii's motion controls so maybe i'm biased, but skyward sword wasn't _that_ terrible of an experience for me gameplay-wise. the sudden, random un-calibration was definitely a pain but when it worked, it worked. never had issues with the sword not swinging, but again i've trained from a young age to wield a wiimote the way nintendo wants lmao and as others have said, dolphin does not handle motion controls well. that certainly doesn't help you here

Skyward Sword certainly isn't my favorite Zelda game but I am thankful it exist. With its motion controls it allowed me to show my dad what video games are capable of, something that was impressive back then. But damn, that brings back memories... of playing Skyward Sword. Smacking your face with the Wiimote was surprisingly common, it definitely went skyward all right...

I'm probably not the first to point this out, but the gratitude crystals and star bits both get their shape from konpeito, a Japanese sugar candy sometimes also referred to as star candy. They're also what Ash fed Nebby in the Pokémon Sun and Moon anime. They're also quite tasty. The candy, not the gratitude crystals. Anyway, just needed to point that out.

i don't know why so many people hate this game, i fucking love the story it's literally the origin of a lot of my favorite games, the first link and zelda, the creation of the best sword in video games, i get that some people have problems with the controls but for me they always worked great and seemed pretty intuitive and at least for me, since i played this game, every time i get the master sword in any other game i can't help but think of my journey to actually create it (and usually say hi to fi)
@darkcust4478 Жыл бұрын
i don't know man after watching the whole video i can't help but thinks this is a skill issue, all the complaints about the controls while not using them correctly doesn't seem like a good reason to me, it's like complaning about a parry in a video game because you think you should parry before the attack and not when the attack is about to land i might sound like a ''git gud'' guy from the souls series but it kinda is the thing here, you can't expect the game to adapt to ''your way'' of using the sword, if the game clearly tells you how you should do the motion to do x attack and you instead just shake the controller... well, it won't register correctly...

@crackerjaq997410 ай бұрын
My dude, you are not going to sit there and say that motion controls are 100% consistent at all times for every single person who uses them, even if they do exactly what the game asks (especially in comparison to buttons). As a concept in and of itself, it is inconsistent. Especially when the edge cases in which people can't do the motions "the right way" for whatever reason are varied and plentiful. They're a fun gimmick, but at the end of the day, they're just clunky no matter how you swing it.

No? I've played the game while sitting (and practically lying down), as long as it's on the same level and actually pointed at the sensor it's fine
@Outside9982 жыл бұрын
@@KitKat-pl5vs The sensor does not do anything in game. I am serious. Try it out. Turn away from the TV, the movements still work. I guess why many people think it does is because basically 99% of games need the sensor bar at all times, and this game never tells you it doesn't. Skyward Sword only needs it for the initial calibration where you have to put the pointer at the middle of the screen and press A.
@Reineerus_The_Rat2 жыл бұрын
@@KitKat-pl5vs All the sensor is used for is initializing position. The bar doesn't track the infrared for this game but rather the position of the wii remote itself. You point at it to say "here it is in a neutral position" and it follows from there.

I get pissed off when people say Skyward Sword is bad cause of its controls. People don't really complain about VR controls because they have the right mindset of "moving around". Your problems are probably: A) Not swinging the remote like you're meant to B) You have a shitty sensor bar C) You're too lazy to actually get up and move around Because the game itself is actually in my opinion one of the best zelda games, even the haters can admit that the dungeons (particularly sandship) were all really really good. I had never had any issues with Wii controls because I just had a sensor bar that wasn't placed weirdly and a mindset that you were meant to play it standing or at least be more physical. If I had to give advice it would be this, place the sensor bar just up where your shoulders or head are, pointing directly at you. Too low or too high gets sketchy and annoying. Stand up when you play the game, the idea of the Wii was to get people involved in the game. You don't see people playing VR games in a chair moving their sticks a tiny bit. So get in a large open area, stand up, and play (like the game tells you to every time you open it). When you want to swing, swing, It's meant to feel like you're actually holding a sword. The simple thing is, it's not meant to be played the same way other zelda games are, so don't complain when you ignore ALL of their warnings and advice when you open the game.
