Interesting "natural" flowing conversational style of presentation. Great job guys, informative and entertaining.

Brilliant, the Scotlanders! Very interesting chat about your views on Scottish history and Linlithgow Palace I was lucky to visit last year. I agree with you, would be great to see the palace restored!

Loving your series 😁 However, I always believed Linlithgow was brought down by the jacobites following Culloden? 🤔

Hi Gill, David here. That one's my goof! The palace was used as a winter residence by Cromwell in 1650-51, but the fire did indeed occur, as you say, following the Jacobites taking up residence there en route to Culloden on 1 February 1746. Thanks for pointing it out, must have got my historical wires crossed during filming!

My 10th great Grandfather Lord Esme Stewart owned this home. I hope to visit one-day. Who currently has control of it?

Why can't the Queen pay for the roof to be put on Linlithgow Palace, see ccan pay for a roof on St James cathedral burning.

Not sure the Queen has any personal interest in Scotland's castles other than her own at Balmoral, but her popularity would soar if she suddenly took an interest! 😀🏴

Well it's not just a Scottish Castle it's a Royal Palace, which Oliver Cromwell set fire to by accident and never repaired, after Oliver Cromwell they restored a Royal Monarch, so a Royal Monarch should restore and look after Royal Palaces in all of the U. K.

I was told by my professor (while we went to the palace on a visit) that it cannot be "restored" for the simple fact that Historic Scotland does not know exactly what the roof looked like. The type of wood, the type of slates etc. So there for cannot recreate the roof sadly.

Like all the other designated historical sites within the UK this one is also owned by the state. Same with the queen.
