VERY VERY NICE. Kinda brings back the days of going house to house and Christmas Caroling. Those were the golden days. The ringing of your doorbell and all the people outside singing, a sign of togetherness and peace.

Finally a good audience. Patiently waiting for the last waves of sound to disappear. Those are the magical seconds.

Beautiful job, especially by just 4 ringers!! Kudos to them all!

There are four of them. A full handbells group is normally around 20 (at least that's the size of mine). Instant respect that these guys can play the song with 4 people.

I notice that they can sometimes play more than one bell in each hand. That's hard to do... holding two bells in one hand and only allowing one of them to ring. I can't do it (not for lack of trying.)
@lindascholes36946 жыл бұрын
There are some great KZbin tutorials on 4-in-hand ringing. It's not hard, once you get the hang of it! Keep trying! We interlock the two bells, making them easier to hold. You turn one sideways and slip it into the other handle. Then you ring one straight-forward as usual (like you're shaking hands) and the other with your wrist turned, like you're knocking on a door. Try it!

They're not doing the work of 5 ringers each, this is an arrangement for no more than 2 octaves which would usually be rung by 7 ringers if they had 2 bells each.
@lindascholes36946 жыл бұрын
Correct, John! This arrangement is specifically written for a quartet.

John Smith ah, ok. My class (my school has a handbells choir) has 5 octaves i believe? It was around $12000 to get them, and a 3 octave chime set that was around $1600. My school is tiny and new, so it was hella hard to raise all the money. We were borrowing from a nearby church before. Anyways, I can barely keep track of my two bells, which is why im impressed. Tho there is this one kid who legit has five bells and holds 4 at a time.

I was curious what carol of the bells sounded like with bells. I am pleased and happy I looked this up.

I play handbells and I am very impressed the guy closest to the camera didn't "sizzle" his bells together.
