Super video. I'd never thought of using stamps to ink the lino. Just one thing though, please don't cut towards your fingers. Those cutters are really sharp and can do serious damage to fingers. Best to use a cutting board with a stop on one edge and push the lino to the stop and cut in that direction; you can always turn the lino round as you need to.

I’ve done that with rolled butcher paper. It took 2 layers to properly obscure the gift, but was otherwise wonderful. 😎

I had seen this video awhile ago but have just revisited it! I totally forgot about the tracing paper trick! Ive been using carbon transfer paper and its such a pain. Your work is gorgeous, as a fellow print maker; your hand seems so steady!

Try using a bit of foam under your stamping area to help with your impressions. Would also recommend a product called ez mount. You can back them and use an old cd case to print them with. Nice video! Thanks! Hope that tip helps!

Hey there, I'm watching this to start using lino stamps and such bc I'm making/drawing/painting on my own clothing and I was wondering if i printed a lino piece onto my clothing would the ink stay on in the wash?

Hi Tom, you can definitely use lino to add designs to clothing, but you'd need to find ink that will go onto clothes. It would be an ink that you would have to roll onto the lino rather than the types of stamps I used in the video!

Oh right sorry! and no, ive only ever used the printing inks we have at college and the ink pads I used in this video! i shouldn't see why they wouldn't work though, they might not give such a smooth effect but they should still print!

Hi Erin, I bought the lino material from my college and it didn't have a brand name on so I don't have a link for that I'm afraid but its a type of soft lino if you're trying to find some! The cutting tools are from a brand called Essdee (www.essdee.co/Products.aspx) they have loads of the supplies you would need for lino printing (including some that I don't have but are useful) and I think they do starter sets too which would be useful!

@@fasharosli8530 both sides are the same so you can carve either, but once one side has been cut you wouldn’t be able to carve the other because lino isn’t really thick enough! You’d probably end up cutting right through if you tried doing both!

You can probably buy any brand but make sure you get one which is labled as a 'soft lino' it'll be a lot more rubbery and therefore easier to cut and safer for kids!
