I have been watching Indian cricket for almost 35 years and in my opinion, I think we were very unfortunate that the career of Azhar had to come to and end much before time. We do not know what actually happened, because in India, nobody is given a fair trial. In my opinion, Azhar is the best batsman that India has produced so far. In fact, in almost all of his centuries, if you look at Azhar's reaction after reaching his 100, you will find no trace of any ego in it. Even a Tendulkar or a Ganguly showed a lot of emotion after reaching their centuries. This is true of Kapil Dev also. We speak of a run a ball or faster these days. But in the case of Kapil, all his runs in both test & one day games were made at a frenetic pace at more than a run a ball. I wonder there is so much hype about a Kohli or a Tendulkar when we have not seen them perform against the likes of a Rpberts or a Lillee or an Imran Khan or a Hadlee or an Ian Botham for that matter even a Bob Willis. Though Kapil is definitely the best cricketer India has produced, I wonder why Sachin was given the Bharat Ratan ahead of Kapil. If it is a case of humility in the midst of achievements you only have to see Kapil's face when he received the World Cup Trophy in 1983. You cannot see an iota of ego in him, only true joy. I wish this comment of mine was posted in sites which would be noticed by the cricketing fraternity

90's memories were the best. From cricket to TV serials from advertisement to music As far as cricket goes, I still remember the MRF of Sachin, Reebok of Azar, Wills of Dravid , BDM of Siddhu GM of south African players kokapura of srilankan and four square of Kumbale srinath Prasad. Miss old days

His batting was treat for the eyes...in this innings no difference... Azhar Vs kluesener was one for the ages, be it Eden or capetown... What an innings it was...a great counter attacking innings and partnership with another great Sachin against that bowling line up... Azhar's wrist work was something beyond imagination... Missed the voice of charu Sharma...

Azhar was the most wristy and magical batsmen in cricket along with Lara..almost Brazilian in terms of the flair he brought to batting..had his frailties against the short ball..but when in full flow none could match his elegance. He could have beaten all records if he had stayed focussed and had been mentored properly.....VVS is the only one who bats like him to some extent..Azza..the magician..miss your magic.

Azhar singing to the beats...Azhar finished his century in no time...he loved Klusener...ja bowling seekh ke aa...as if he was batting in nets...Azhar in those days played every shot that today..a Kohli...Rohit...Dhoni...would play...

Hyderabadi man with wristy flicks. Need more credit in the field of cricket. He would have been highest run getter in cricket history if we would have continued his cricket.... My respect to him.

By 1993 azhar was master of offside and onside both. He had an ability to find gaps in the most unusual field positions. He used a very light bat but with a gift of timing a mere tap could make the ball racing towards the boundry. His batting was a delight to watch, and when in form no bowler had any clue where to bowl him.

There was no better sight in international cricket than azharuddin in full flow . This was his 19th test hundered , becoming the only Indian middle order batsman till that time to score these many hundereds in test cricket. And second highest after Sunil Gavaskars 34.
