For me his stunning 109 vs South Africa against the likes of Donald & Klusner at the Edens Garden fighting to avoid the "Follow-On" watching it as a young teenager it was just out of this world experience and he shortly followed it up with 115 at cape town which was one of the most stunning display of batting in the history of test cricket & similarly his 121 at Lords was in the same league.

He was my 1st Indian captain when I as a kid first started understanding cricket in the mid to late 90's. What a sight it was seeing him do his magic. Unfortunate end to his illustrious career !

Azharuddin what a captain he was. Shier determination under any sort of pressure displayed his talent and maturity. More than his records, talents Sri Lankan will love him for ever for coming here during the turmoil in 1996 collaborating with Pakistan capt Wasim Akram and take part in a joint match with Sri Lanka to show the entire world that the world cup serious could be held in Sri Lanka. Which actually led Sri Lanka to collect couple of bonus points and conclude the tournament becoming the champs. Ultimately Azharuddin and Vasim Akram despite the traditional rivalry join handedly support Sri Lanka to win the most valuable championship ever. We as kids back then loved to see him batting, though it was not easy to see he scoring silently but matching the required rate.

I loved his elegant style of Batting especially his flick shots ❤. They are a thing of beauty 😍. If he was not involved in matchfixing he would have become a legend because he was the 2nd best batsman after Sachin in 90s as Ganguly ,Dravid and Laxman were just coming up in mid 90s and late 90s. He was 37yrs old i think when that whole match-fixing scandal came out ending his career. You didn't talk about his 60 ball 100 in 90s . It was the fastest hundred by an Indian back then . Its said by cricket analysts and fans that he started out as a defensive batsman but ended up becoming a demonically attacking batsman in the 90s especially in ODIs . Thats why he has so less no of centuries in ODI cricket even after hitting close to 10k runs. Anyway I want you to make a video on VVS laxman who was similar to Azaruddin in terms of Batting elegance and Herschelle Gibbs who was 1 of the most destructive south African opening batsman from 90s and 2000s. And among Bowlers i want you to do a story on Laxmipathy Balaji and Munaf patel as they both are underrated legends of Indian Cricket. ❤

Unfortunately got poor treatment in match fixing controversy even though nothing was proved, He should contribute more to the national team as he is still fit and energetic !!
