I have this router. I really do like it. It’s great quality and extremely reliable connection. It has one major flaw, however, that Netgear could easily address via firmware update: Its Port Triggering interface is horrendous. You can of course specify a range of ports that will be delivered to a device. But the problem is, you can only list one specific port as the triggering port. It needs to be a RANGE of ports for both trigger and deliver. Linksys routers get this right. And please, don’t tell me to use Port Forwarding. It is inferior to Triggering because port forwarding reserves a port for one device. But then if you have another device that needs that port, you’re out of luck.

I have the nighthawk r9000 it's pretty sweet. I have it in a window at the front of the house so my parents who live opposite can use it too. It's 350mb internet and I get 100mb at their house around 25 meters and 2 windows away. And get the full 350mb on any devices anywhere in my house.

That mf literally killed our Internet and when we called our Provider (Netcologne) and they said, that we have to call the Telekom cuz it is their cable... I got the XR300 and I am really suprised how much better my wifi has gotten. It went from spotty and dropping connection to rock solid. It was a costly upgrade, but it was well worth it. The DumaOS feature set really allowed for the tuneing i wanted.

But from my last understanding of that thing is you can put that atnt router/modem in bridge mode which turns off wifi and turn just into a modem. Then connect your router with ethernet cable in number 1 ethernet jack then set up the router to connect to the internet then everything goes to the router you brought. If there no more bridge mode you can put the router ip address in the dmz zone so you don't get double nat.

Actually idk about the wifi part being the issue but a terrible router can be an issue as well .comcast gave me the worst 1st party router modem if I connect more than 2 devices on it whether its ethernet or wifi I start disconnecting in and out randomly even at gigabit bandwidth but once I switched to a half decent router things suddenly worked perfectly.

This video is for enthusiasts like me. If you want a cheaper solution that will still upgrade your stupid xfi gateway to a better setup, then try the netgear nighthawk ac1900 (c7000v2) modem/router combo, paired with the netgear ac1900 mesh extender. I also recommend turning on their fast lane technology on the extender to commit to one band for maximum performance. The extender should be relatively in the middle between your router and your device. Always run speed tests for the best setup.

I decided to go with the XR300 Nighthawk after this video about a year ago. Since then, have had to replace one unit with customer support and have continuously been on customer support since then and just can’t seem to get it to consistently give me the speeds I need. Currently paying for a gigabit of internet. I’m getting 800-900 consistently via a wired connection but never more than 50mbps via wifi. I live in a 800 square foot apartment and I can’t even consistently FaceTime a family member 20 feet from this router. Netgear customer support hasn’t been able to figure out anything and I’ve just about given up on this router. My old Apple AirPort Extreme from waaay back gave me higher speeds than this thing.

​@@1FAST91SONOMA I live in NorCal, about an hour from Sac and we have Comcast and AT&T. Both are horrible companies, but Comcast is the fastest in our area. I used to get up to 6 Mbps with AT&T, then 12 and then 18. Though, I have seen a few very small towns outside of my town where 1.5 Mbps is the fastest they can.

I had a shaw modem I actually found it better than the Telus ones for in home game streaming. Coltens router is the previous generation of Shaw modem.. Those things were awful. There was actually a huge issue, you had to use DHCP reservation because the internal IPs would play musical by chairs for some reason and bump some clients off.

Yes they are. Nobody ever checks the modem. Plus linus could have connected using the WPS feature. They are not usually turned off and normally not under a pin.
