@@lucymi Their privacy policy is such that though they say they do not sell personal information, there is definitely enough wiggle room to sell data. One such example is that Honey says they don't track your web browsing on "any site that is not a retail (shopping or service) site"; that clause about "service" is wide enough to drive a bus through. They also "share information... for the purpose of running Honey and fulfilling our commitment to you"; since their 'commitment' covers every website in existence that sells anything, that's such a blanket statement as to be essentially meaningless. Personally, I am highly suspicious of a free browser extension that has 200 employees and advertises on a large number of popular YT channels and podcasts (just that I've seen, don't know about other media). They say they make money through stores "sometimes pay[ing] us a fee"; this seems like complete tosh to me. Because, really, what store is going to have a marketing campaign mediated through a free browser extension? I've never heard Honey advertising a specific code or deal that they have with any store whatsoever. Honey has raised $40m in venture capital funding, but that's not going to pay the bills long-term. Plus, you know, privacy policies can change on a dime.
