I love budget round ups. Things like digging into the settings and seeing how intuitive the TV is to use are hard to shop for when just comparing web pages with specs. I'm not sure how well these types of videos perform, but I love seeing y'all dive into the budget products as those are the ones I'll be buying for the next several, several years of my life.
@bFix

I feel the same, like half the specs are missing when shopping online. or rather half of the stuff, that actually matters. You have to watch videos online to find out which remote and which gui seems good (probably not the same models, but the same manufacturer)

Seriously this reminds me of the same problem that led to people leaving the clock on blinking 12:00 on their VCR. I have had a 49” LG tv for a couple years now. Gaming always felt off. I had NO idea that the gaming mode had so much lower latency than other modes. I always used other modes because I felt like the “Game” mode had the colors way over saturated. Didn’t realize I was sacrificing so much lag. Oh yeah, I can certainly imagine. I’m a film editor AND tech guy, and a good example is how right now I’m watching the Mary Tyler Moore show with my father, which for anyone who doesn’t know is one of the most loved sitcoms of all time, but was made in the early seventies. As in season one was 1970. And when we get to each new episode, I’m often hearing or seeing massive drops in audio or video quality, which my father doesn’t see or hear. Which is a bit odd, since he’s a big tech guy too. But still.

Im annoyed by people with no standards, or incredibly low standards... Products get worse while getting more expensive as a result of none concerning customers such as youself... Companys get away with proverbial murder... TVs are a great example of this.. 2020 saw a shifting of just about the whole lineup from all manufacturers. rather than improve models, each tv is now comparable to the model that would have been below it on the stack the previous year, rather than above it.. Quality is regressing...
@Lee-pv1lg

@@William-Morey-Baker First of all, thx for the insult. Secondly, I don't see a need of a high end TV in my life. I get things that I need not want, I spend basically most of my time at home in front of a computer or my ipad rather than a TV so I don't see why i have to get a TV that will set me back thousands of dollars that I will hardly use.
@PSspecialist
@PSspecialist 4 жыл бұрын
@@William-Morey-Baker Your problem is not with people. It's with capitalism. It only makes sense that not everybody can be an expert on everything. In the same way that you have high standards on TVs there are inevitably going to be people with higher standards than yours on other products where you have mediocre standards without even thinking about them. It should be the companies' responsibility to price things fairly and not trick people. Since that is counter-productive when it comes to profit margins and since big capital seems to have severe allergic reactions to regulating anything other than pure necessities you get the declining state of the current market. Make systemic critiques instead of blaming individuals. That's how progress is made.

I sold TVs for years and honestly I reccomend Hisense over all of the above especially at this price range. And then at the high end, I really still reccomend Hisense, but it gets harder when it isn't apples to apples cause the tech is different in Samsung and lg. For people looking for the best of the best kinda gotta lean Samsung or LG, but if they are sub 1.2k in price, most models around that compared to Hisense equivalent or otherwise I'm gonna say Hisense.

"use your eyes" works for disabling all of the "fuckery" like motion smoothing and fine tuning sharpness. for things like black levels/contrast/brightness if it's something you KNOW should look a certain way, you can kinda eyeball it. if you really want to "calibrate" it you use printed test cards or a meter. i've got an ancient usb one that will work for calibrating a monitor, you could probably run it (with a PC) in a way that lets you dial in settings changes instead of just spitting an .icm profile.

@@beezusHrist What is “Game Mode”? Game mode is an option that display manufacturers put into their HDTVs to disable certain image processing protocols when its enabled. It usually makes your picture look worse. Why would anyone want to do that? Because your pretty picture is the reason your controller and inputs feel sluggish. By enabling “Game Mode”, you are disabling certain features of the TV to reduce picture quality, and in return you get more responsive inputs on your controller. The less your TV has to work, the more responsive your controller is. Shut up you dumbass lmao.

Hell, I have the TCL 50" 50S425 now, but not for long. It's okay, but nothing I'd personally recommend to anyone as I am in the process of upgrading. It's replacement will be here Wednesday. Over the last few days I've been researching and even almost went for one of the ones that I am seeing in your descriptions. By your recommendations even being listed here, I figure that either of the ones outside of the one that I have now would have been a descent choice for me, personally. I've have decided on a 55" TCL 6 series. Even decided to choose the older (2018) 6R17 model over the newer ones like the 6R25 after extensive research, as some of the features like "lag input" and "brightness " matters a bit more to me, and some of the newer models (including the 6R25) seemed to have regressed in some of those regards. Nice vids though. You have tons of wisdom when it comes to these things and a lot of your advice helped me out a great deal in building up my PC.

You should really do another one of these. Looking at getting a new "tv" that'll have my living room PC connected into as my everyday pc. No more sitting at desks while doomscrolling the interwebs LIKE AN ANIMAL!! 🤣🤣

I own the 43" version of the TCL and I had no trouble mounting it on a standard mount I got at Best Buy. It actually replaced a different TV and I just used the same screws with no issues.

I have the Samsung in a 55” and I can say they got a few things wrong. Not sure if there was an update since this was filmed though. There is a game mode, it’s in the external device manager. There’s an option to apply picture settings to all sources right in the expert section. The screen mirroring is probably referring to the AirPlay 2 compatibility, which I love. I actually owned the TCL in a 65”, it was broke at a New Years party I held, I replaced it with the RU7100 and I have to say I much prefer the Samsung over the TCL. I know it gets quite a bit brighter than the TCL and I like the Tizen OS a lot more than Roku. I’d like to see a bit more research put into your videos like these. I know a quick comparison on Rtings will tell you that the Samsung gets brighter. Still love you guys tho, I watch every video, and of course, correct me if I’m wrong.

I've been very happy with my TCL 4 series. The roku software is very pleasant to use. It's not the brightest but for its price it's great. Movie picture settings will always be closest to accurate without calibration.
