I made a home server for myself to store photos and video on along with maybe running the occasional game on my steam library and honestly a gigabit feels too slow, especially when you consider it might be split between 1-3 people at any given moment. Generally the ethernet connection is the bottleneck for anything that done with the server.

Really a easy clean & rebuild, I once had to repair a "server" a 386, 1992?, that they left with a Slot cover missing, working in a factory, powering their network and Water Cutting Machine, MICE had decided it was nice & warm in there, so they made babies, chewed up paper to nest, crapped everywhere, amazingly it was still working until the day it stopped, and they called my shop, took me 2 weeks to clean the crap out, instead of chucking it out, Customer wanted whole unit saved, even after telling them, the Motherboard was Dead. The controller for the laser was on 16 bit card, which they they couldn't replace, and their "books" & Mail, was on it's Hard Drive, but I saved both, and reinstalled in a New Machine, not only do some people don't have their mice on the outside, they can't see it's time to start anew ...
