GreenWithEnvy currently doesn't support Wayland. If you're running Wayland check out Tuxclocker as an alternative to GWE: github.com/Lurkki14/tuxclocker Also CoreCtrl has been super reliable for me, but if you prefer there's also a newer alternative to it called LACT: github.com/ilya-zlobintsev/LACT Both are good choices and offer the same features.

What do you think about LACT?
@PhazerTech6 ай бұрын
Thanks for the support! LACT looks good and is newer than CoreCtrl, but it doesn't really do anything that CoreCtrl can't do. I've been using CoreCtrl ever since I got my 6700 XT and haven't had any issues with it. That's why I picked it for this video, I know it's reliable. I think both are good options though and at the end of the day it's personal preference.

Sadly the bits part didn't work for me, I still can't create an OC profile. I'm on a 4070 Ti SUPER.
@Rippeee10 күн бұрын
I couldn't get GreenwithEnvy to work either, soon as I change the cool bits and reboot, it boots in the black screen (This only happens on systems with Dual GPU'S). I found a workaround to create a new file /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-coolbits.conf and then do the device section, identifier, and cool bits directly inside that config. So it goes on top of the default one and don't break the original Xorg and bork the system. Corectrl works nicely and no problems at all on AMD side. There is another alternative for Nvidia, and it seems to work better than greenwithenvy, atleast for me it did. It was originally made for amd, but the latest release supports Nvidia too, it's called LACT

Thanks for the amazing tutorials and resources. I am using Nobara and Core Ctrl and I don't miss Windows at all (I was dual booting, but I am now only using Linux). The only other quip I have is using my 8bit do controllers (Ultimate bluetooth controller and the Pro Controller 2) with their gyro functions outside of Steam (Heroic, Lutris). I am so happy to only use Linux, though, so it is totally worth it.

That's great to hear! I also use an 8Bit Do controller but mine is the standard wired version and it works great on Linux. I did a quick search and it looks like you can get the gyro functions working using this driver: gitlab.com/fabiscafe/game-devices-udev Also see more discussion here: www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/14jdjbe/8bitdo_pro_2_on_linux/

@@dawnmccarthy1 I used a 980 Ti and it worked fine, so I don't think it's because the card is too old. The monitor shouldn't make a difference either. Hard to say whats wrong but if you have the time maybe try another distro such as Kubuntu like I did.

@@PhazerTech I'll try it out on my other hard drive tonight. Though my graphics choppiness started after getting a new monitor. Maybe the 550w power supply isn't strong enough? We'll see after I try kubuntu.
@PhazerTech27 күн бұрын
@@dawnmccarthy1 If you're seeing choppiness and glitches then it's possible there's a hardware issue. But if it were the PSU then you'd see problems during a game or heavy load. The choppiness might be due to monitor settings and vsync. Also I just remembered right now that some other people reported not being able to modify the OC even after setting coolbits. They say it eventually fixed itself. I'm guessing after a system update and rebooting, so keep that in mind.

Great Guide! Is there any Way to Control the Core-Voltages with Nvidia GPU‘s under Linux? Like with MSI Afterburner under Windows?
@PhazerTech4 ай бұрын
Thanks! Unfortunately I don't think that's possible at the moment, but it might be soon. Nvidia has finally gone open source with their Linux drivers, so things should be improving soon. For now you could set a negative offset on your core clock which will also reduce the voltage.
