Try At You Own Risk. I have used TestDisk to undelete files with great success. I made a mistake in DiskPart one day and cleaned the wrong drive, and I did not have success in undoing it, but I didn't lose much information because I had a back up . Only thing it had been a while since I updated the backup. I think every computer person messes up and loses something once in a while. Thanks for watching. BTW, I think I figured out why it copied file to the root instead of Downloads. Try not only highlight but also press Enter key once when Downloads is highlighted and see if that does it.

Thanks so much. I think I know now why it did not undelete to the Downloads directory/folder. I think if I would have highlighted the desired directory/folder and pressed enter to open, I think it might have sent it to the right place. Thanks for stopping in.

Hello, to get it right. You should enter the Downloads-Folder first than type c for this is the right folder to place the file. On the otherhand the lock is shows up because you are not the owner of this file. The testdisk runs with root right and the file is created by the root user. With terminal "sudo chown username:groupname filename" does the trick or Rightclick on the file and on context menu click Properties than rights "file permissions". Than change the owner to the username, what you use instead. But your video and your voice is good - the speed good too. Thanks for shareing your experience.

Yea, I kind of figured it out later about the directory/folder and already put it at end of description and added it to reply last comment, but I didn't try it so thanks for the affirmation. I thought it might be something with permissions, but thanks for your full insight, because I would not have been able to put it in exact words. I also think, while yours is the proper way to remove the lock, my way may be easier for us rookies. As far as the clearness of the video, I recorded it at least twice before posting. Thanks so much for your experienced advice, and thanks for stopping in.

I did have one really weird thing happen. I did I couple of so practice runs, and left the room for a while. When I returned my laptop fan was racing. I opened Bpytop, (I think it a lot like Htop), and tried to dump the program. (I thought I better not say the k-ll word here so I say dump), and could not dump it. It was running two or three times. So why did not quit and exit terminal dump it? I sure don't know. I had to reboot and it was gone and fan back to an idle. Thanks.

@@BitsOfTruth Hi, I think you have not enough permissions to do that "dump it". Next time open up a terminal and go to root with "sudo htop" or your program "sudo Bpytop" if it is a terminal program? Than sort it as cpu usage than the monster program should be the top one. Select it and "dump it". This should work. if not install "sudo apt-get install htop". htop hotkeys: F6 - SortBy -> with arrows key Up/Down select the percent_cpu hit enter F9 - dump it -> It ask you if you really sure to do that - Hit Enter/Return than the program is gone q - To close htop I hope this will help you next time.

@@claudiafischering901 okay. Thanks much. Yes it is a terminal program. I have seen Htop. I am told it is called Bpytop because it is written in Python. It includes CPU temperature and such. Thanks so much for your time and answer.
