It has been brought to my attention that this yarn has been discontinued but I think it is possible that it has simply been repackaged as LB Collection Botanic which you can check out here: www.lionbrand.com/products/lb-collection%C2%AE-botanic-yarn

Thank you so much for persevering through this swatch! Apparently, I'm one of the (lucky?) few who doesn't seem to have as much trouble working with this type of fiber. Not sure why, but I'm definitely not complaining as it's one of the best fibers for my climate.

I had a cone of bamboo (light finger weight or heavy lace weight) that I used to make 2 shawls. You are so right about the splitting. I had to redo many rows at times but got good at being careful with the splitting. The patterns had a lot of k2tog and intricate stitches that meant I couldn't really use a blunter needle or I couldn't do the stitches, but the pointier ones were difficult also! What made it worth it was the drape - absolutely gorgeous! I enjoy your videos as I am a shawl lover (I make them but don't usually wear them - great presents, tho). Another one I LOVE is (are?) your swatch videos. I actually am in love with the swatch patterns themselves and would like to ask that you design a shawl that uses these stitches - maybe not the cables as they usually don't fit in quite well with the yarns that look good in the other stitches, but I think the other stitches go together beautifully. How about it? (In your spare time (LOL). Another question: In the old days (I mean really old as I'm 76), rayon was somewhat flammable and at times disintegrated (rayon scarves, especially). Do you think items made from rayon yarn will last?

I honestly don't know about the longevity of rayon, I would guess it is comparable to cotton? The plus is that it is a natural fiber, which makes it biodegradable ... but that means it will degrade LOL.

A few days ago I was in Joann's with my daughter. She was looking at a skein of yarn and saw that it had lyocell in it. She asked me what lyocell is and I was able to tell her because I had watched your last video talking about rayons. Thank you for helping me seem like I know what I'm talking about. 😊

Hi! This was extremely helpful! I Love rayon. Years ago there were a lot of women’s garments made out of it and then it seemed to disappear. And you are right; rayon has a wonderful drape. Thank you so much to going to all the trouble to show us what Naboo yarn can do. Also, I love your hair!

I have never successfully completed anything with this type of yarn. I have swatched a bit a definately enjoyed crocheting with it more than knitting. I also prefered the look of the fabric at a tighter gauge. I would love to have a garment made out of it but I will probably just continue to look at these arranged in a pretty rainbow on my shelf.

I think I would like it better at a tighter gauge as well.

Very interesting! Though I find in general I don't like to knit with plant fibers, but crocheting with them is fun! Maybe someday I'll crochet a tank top or something out of this yarn, that would probably be beautiful

I can see crocheting with this being a whole different ball game.

I am knitting with a cotton cupro blend... Cupro I believe is a type of rayon. Thank you for explaining these fabric types. I've been incredibly frustrated by the splitting, but think I have it under control now. However, the increases are so visible (big jogs), I am not enjoying the finished product.

My friend visited a yarn shop with me when last in town. We saw all these lovely wool and alpaca yarns, but she said she is allergic to all animals fibers. She fell IN LOVE with some 100% bamboo yarn. She said she would love some fingers-less mitts. I went back later to buy said yarn…..that was a year ago because I’m really not sure it will work for mitts at all. Ever try it?

So substituting a 100% bamboo yarn into a fingerless mitt pattern designed for an animal fiber might be a bit of a challange due to the lack of elasticity and memory in bamboo. You might want to see if you can find a mitt pattern specifically designed for a least a plant fiber like cotton or linen.

I bought a bunch of Truboo when it came out. The colors appealed to me straight away but after a couple days of working with it, it all ended up in my stash. It's been there ever since. Too bad. I took up knitting to relax and for enjoyment. I have enough stress without this in my life.

I love how these yarns feel. I absolutely hate working with them. I purchased the pressed flowers vest, which is mosaic knitting. I tried ONE pass with this yarn and could have just taken it and thrown it all in the trash, Even crochet is a nightmare but not quite as bad.

Sorry, you had such challenges with the yarn. I wonder if the truboo would be easier due to the different extrusion process. I have used the Coboo yarn for multiple garments and it has been great to use. Works beautifully in cables which lends it extra structure. But I do not use animal fibers so I do not have a comparison there.

I would like to ask you to do that same swatch again. BUT this time, use a blunt tipped wooden needle. I wonder if 80% of your frustration would disappear!

I won't be swatching this yarn again but I do have another slippery yarn on deck and I'm planning on using a wooden needle. I'm quite averse to doing the same thing twice LOL.

@@WatchBarbaraKnit A Prym ergonomic needle might also be a good choice. (I'm using a Prym right now for a cotton/linen blend project and it does a good job keeping the yarn from unwanted sliding off the needles.)
