Africa's Sportsman Show, Episode 63
Africa’s Sportsman Show host Stefan Fouché departs to the Kalahari looking to hunt the biggest antelope Africa has to offer, the Eland. The goal is to do it on foot with an open sighted double rifle.
Local hunter Stoffel van Beek is looking to hunt his first lion as well as a big eland.
They join Stephen Bann from SB Hunting Safaris on this memorable trip.

I just want to ask, is that a place where lions are too near to people's places and often they harm people? And how many Apex Predators do we have right now in there and how many millions of wilderbeast, buffalos, and all other herds are left?,,, do we have more than enough carnivore animals in there to balance the nature?

There are plenty of apex predators on the African plains, this is a game reserve and the people who run it know exactly what's on the land, They wouldn't hunt that lion without knowing it wont disturb the balance.

Hi Rahman. Lions hunt mostly for food but also to teach their young how to survice and catch a meal. If you meant "why are lions being hunted": It's all part of government controlled sustainable utilization programs designed to increase wildlife numbers as a whole, and it's very successful. @@yousseflaaguid660 Unfortunately selling to zoos aren't a viable option. Only a handful of zoos worldwide want lions, and most already have more than they can handle. Selling a single lion to a zoo will bring in a bit of money now, but there aren't enough zoos in the world to raise the amount of money needed to protect the habitat across Africa where lions live and where they need our help. Only hunting can bring in enough funds to protect the land. Protecting the land protects the species. Hunting a few animals each year saves thousands of animals each year. Do this all over Africa and you save millions of animals.

@Tuberculosis-lr4em
@Tuberculosis-lr4em 2 ай бұрын
It is indeed 100% legal. This was most likely done on a private owned reserve and it serves more a purpose than just fun. The act of hunting sustains wildlife not only is the money the hunters shell out given to anti poaching efforts but the act of harvesting an animal helps the ecosystem.

Nah dude this is an amateur who has paid to shoot a lion for.....? probably an ego trip or a boner, he needs to be constantly told where to stand and when to shoot, and as for dangerous these lions have probably been hand raised and then released into an enclosure

Why are you killing lions?
@AfricanSunProductions
@AfricanSunProductions 3 жыл бұрын
@@fanelemoyo4981 Hi Fanele. It's all part of government controlled sustainable utilization programs designed to increase wildlife numbers as a whole, and it's very successful. Thank you for watching and for your comment.

Why not use a AK47 or M4 sort of automachinegun to shoot lion? Isn't that more fun?
@AfricanSunProductions
@AfricanSunProductions 3 жыл бұрын
@@tedwang906 Hi Ted. It's not about fun though. The idea behind sustainable utilization programs are to hunt ethically, and automatic weapons aren't very accurate or very high powered. The rifles used are designed to kill big animals quickly.
