@@yuck4u The list of reasons about why predators won't Attack certain animals: 1. Permanent aliance (you take care of something mine, I take care about something yours). 2. Predators generally don't Attack watch other. 3. A predator won't Attack another predator if it feels like the other predator is superior. 4. Temporal aliance (common threat/prey). 5. Affection. 6. No need to kill (already full, a high effort-low reward situation, general disadvantage, etc.).

@@yuck4u They aren’t typically used to predation on tall bi pedal figures (Aside from the Ostrich) most of the time they see humans seated in vehicles, so they’ve likely learned to associate humans with vehicles and often see us as an extension of a big vehicle unit, that is harmless hence why they often rest in the shade of safari vehicles etc. Had he stepped out or been a further distance from the vehicle as a visibly singular unit.. I can pretty much guarantee you that this situation would have been a lot different. Just like a herd of zebra or what have you, the moment a lone zebra or buffalo wanders and isolates itself from the the larger herd, they become an easy clear target.

Did anyone else notice the tick on the lioness's mouth? Poor thing. Wild creatures are prone to getting all kinds of parasites. However, she looked very healthy in every other respect. Beautiful.
@PAULLONDEN8 жыл бұрын
+Katherine Uribe Did you mean that >1:25 ? That seems to be an extension of her lower lip or a cyste of some kind. If that was a tick, it was a suicidal one, so close to a spot where it easily could be wiped or licked off....Anyway, you would be surprised how many 'non wild'creatures are prone to get the most creepy parasites....

+PAULLONDEN Wild lions are afflicted by all kinds of parasites, internal as well as external. They're very hearty creatures. The ticks like to get close to the eyes and mouth; the skin in closer, not so much fur to contend with.

On my Okavango safari, I photographed a lioness from about 4m away, at ground level, hanging out of the landcruiser, moving as slowly as possible, when she noticed me, perked up and for an instant, looked like she was going to pounce. I just about shat my pants, even though in the end the lioness didn't even get up. I can only imagine how freaked this photographer was, or maybe not, since he clearly has much more experience than I.

ihatepeoplewhoabuseanimals Hi there, obviously it was never Graham's intention to end up in the situation he found himself in, however, he was not expecting the lioness to head in his direction and was left with no time to get back into the vehicle before the big cat reached him. His only option was to stand perfectly still.
@ihatepeoplewhoabuseanimals68119 жыл бұрын
Earth Touch, Nonetheless, whether he stays in that vehicle, that lion could have easily snatched him from it. The vehicle does not have a roof and doors to keep the lion from grabbing him. It is still reckless to be driving that type of vehicle in the jungle. Fortunately, the lion was not as curious and hungry at that time. He would have been devoured by that lion or any lions around the vicinity. He needs to respect the space of wild animals especially predators.
@earthtouchtv9 жыл бұрын
ihatepeoplewhoabuseanimals We understand your concern, however, Graham is an experienced cameraman who has spent many hours working in wild. Our crews obviously have filming permits and the vehicles are adapted for this purpose and are perfectly safe (we have never lost a crew member!). We can assure you that our crews always respect the wild animals that they film, but unpredictable wildlife is part of the job. This incident is very much an isolated one and incidents like this do not occur regularly.

Is it possible that the jeep behind the man made him look bigger, so the lioness didn't think he's prey? And what will happen if it's a male lion, I wonder...
@earthtouchtv10 жыл бұрын
Hmmm, interesting hypotheses, Jenifer. The vehicle may have helped deter the lioness, however, we think that this cat was probably just curious more than anything else - she wasn't actively hunting and seemed more interested in the box at Graham's feet than anything else.
@jenifer163810 жыл бұрын
Earth Touch Well, can't say the same for male lion though...
@earthtouchtv10 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's possible that a male lion would have reacted a bit differently...
@lesrach36 жыл бұрын
Earth Touch I don't think the lioness was truly interested in the box at all. She was just pretending to be more interested in the box to get closer, without causing fight or flight mode in Graham, and get his smell. Although he was brave, had the lion went went straight to Graham to smell him, he might have reacted. She looked like she was trying to avoid escalation of conflict while checking you out. At the end when she turned her back to you was very interesting. I'm not sure if that was her trying to claim you, or make you more comfortable by letting you know she's not hyper fixated on you, or both. Either way, what an experience that must have been for Graham lol.
