@PassionForTrains The caboose comes with 2 smoke stacks. The oversized smoke stack is used if you want to operate the smoke unit. The scale smoke stack is used if you want a more scale appearance.

8 years later I'm rewatching this review, I now work in a produce warehouse and I gotta say. Everything about that little pile of lettuce boxes in the dummy reefer are spot on, the boxes themselves look to be the right size and proportions and those piles are incredibly common. Most lettuce packers use relatively low quality boxes and when combined with the wet environment the produce is kept in stacks of those boxes usually tumble if they are even slightly bumped or tampered. Too bad those reefers had so many flaws or I'd preorder the new single car they're making
@randytaylor12582 жыл бұрын
Do you really consider those major issues? Some collectors think everything should be perfect out of the box but Eric s guidance gives me the satisfaction of having contrived something to the end result. Cheers!

@@randytaylor1258coming back another two years later and now working for the railroad where they pay me enough to gamble my purchases some. I'm going to give the new car and the matching LCCA car a shot, lionel redesigned the smoke feature so we'll see how it actually plays out. Now to find the set itself

@PassionForTrains Yes, paint. The drop plate does not scrape against anything during normal operations, so friction really isn't an issue.

It's actually interesting to see a fictional BNSF AC6000CW being painted in the Burlington Northern Executive paint scheme just with BNSF's minor touches of the Heritage 2/3 yellow paint, and also to see the Heritage 1 logo on the nose it seems like for this engine they brought back some of the memories of the Burlington Northern, and also a tiny memory of BNSF's Heritage 1 scheme with the H1 logo. I have to admit for this being a fictional engine BNSF did a nice job with it.

@CNtomato Sequence control is activated by holding down the AUX1 key on the Legacy remote until you hear a "ding-ding-toot" sound from the engine. It is a very new feature, however, and I'm not sure if the SD70's have it or not. Give it a try.

@matthewnprovost Most brands of trains these days, including Lionel, are made in either China or Korea. There are a couple exceptions, however. Weaver makes some of the cars in the USA and Lionel has produced a few special boxcars in the USA over the last couple years.

@tycoonkid9 The sound car plays the sounds on a cycle so it does't play the sounds non-stop. Therefore there are times when the train in running that there is no sound coming from the sound car.

If you buy enough items from either Lionel OR MTH, then you'll realize that both can be pretty negligent at times in products they sell...designing all these nice features to "one-up" each other, only to have something stupid like a coupler shorting out power...but I guess these things happen when items are massed produced like the truck assemblies. Nice set overall, Eric. The diesel motor on the reefer car sounds great, that was a nice surprise.
@shnimmuc13 жыл бұрын
@esiegel76 I love all your videos and the fair play you demonstrate when reviewing any manufacturers product. There are the Lionel guys and the Mth guys, and then someone like me that has all manufacturers represented in their collection. I want to recommend the fairly new offering by MTH, the 0-8-8-0 camelback Erie Angus which is incredibly detailed. I just picked one up and it is amazing. The paint and finish of the locomotive are stunning.

Great review Eric! I have an Alaska refer and it has the same stupid doors. I can see light through them they are that bad. I don't have the coupler problem on that car, but I do on MTH cars. Some of them are so bad, I can't uncouple them because it can't go far enough to trip the mechanism.
