Hi Chris, I love the GP30;s they have such a strong muscular (ready for work) look and I love your Penn Central patch version with that awesome paint scheme (I didn''t know Lionel did that). Great review, Chris! I really like those PRR units. I think Lionel has historically done an awesome job with their GP30's! I loved the up-close perspective that you captured as the units were passing by. They do look good running in pairs. Bill B.

Very clever of Lionel with that "sliding into decrepitude" PennCentral / Conrail patch GP30! That's not something you'd expect from a train maker! Those who like the weathered look have been given a head start with this version of the Geep. Historically, the GP30 really signals the beginning of the competition between EMD and GE for the domestic locomotive market, a race GE would eventually win.

It's a shame d&H and CNJ din't buy them with their most colorful livery! A great engine and where I lived, though a branch line, I saw the B&O's GP-30 brand new. What a sight!

Nice diesels and Lionel definitely did well on that CR patched unit. The GP30 definitely has a dignified down to business character to it. They look "mean" and are one of my favorites. Thanks for sharing.

Chris bought the conrail gp30 loco.....nice model don't get me wrong...but.....the yellow on the rails along the long hood is wrong...I painted mine all black.....look on the internet and did not see any gp30's with yellow rails.....did not see it on the PC/CR locos......other than that it's a good looking loco...

Does Lionel typically release the diesels before the steamers? I am waiting on my C&S Consolidation from the 2023 v2 catalog.
