I have 5 K-Line S-2 switchers and I love them all!!! I also have 7 Lionel MPC NW-2 switchers, 1 LTI NW-2 switcher, and 1 LionChief NW-2 diesel switcher as well. Also along with all of those engines I also have 4 Williams NW-2 switchers. All of these engines have colorful paint schemes and pull super well!!! I am very fond of all of them!! Thank you very much for sharing this!!!

I have a k-line switcher that I use on a long incline. I like it because of the 2 engine drive and pulling long lines of cars up it. It has been quite dependable for my use.

I saw another video from ToyTrain Tips and tricks where he added a spring to the front truck to fix that K-line problem successfully.

Thanks Ron. I'll check that out.

The rear truck powered Lionels 8:39 were the best. Put a LCRU in the blue C&O for command. Needs resistors to prevent inadvertent coupler openings.

The way Marx came up with their adaption using standard four wheel motor was very clever.
@chiconian494 жыл бұрын
Marx thought outside the box, using existing parts. The motor is the same double reduction motor used on the Marx 666 & 1666 2-4-2 steamers.

Hello! I'm from Scotland, UK. Saw you over at Chris. Hailes Heritage Railway there. I know what you mean about things coming out of the factory working properly. I have an 0-4-2 of OO Gauge and scale from the 1982 Airfix Range. It's fine going forwards but in reverse, the pony wheels keep jumping off at the curves. Being a small GP steam loco, it makes it useless for the shunting it's intended for. I think the power pick-ups are pushing way to hard against the pony wheels but it's no easy fix on a plastic model. Anyway, I hope you are Keeping as Well as Possible, sir. Thank you for the side of Lionel/Marx/Other 3-rail I've never seen much of...the undersides With the single motor in the central position there, it seemed to solve a lot of the troubles with the other two sets of 'bogie wheels' running as ponies front and back. yes, cleverly hidden. Maybe too much power in the one with the two drive motors? I hope it fitted the replacement casing you were going to try. Anyway, thank you again, sir and all the best wishes now. Cheers.

One reason the K-Line may derail is due to the traction tire. The grip it gets tends to lift the front axle up especially if pulling a heavy train. The trailing truck is opposite so it doesn't lift pulling the load. If you just run the engine without pulling any cars does it derail?
@chiconian494 жыл бұрын
The K-Line constantly derailed without pulling cars while traversing an O-27 curve at the beginning of an uphill climb. All my other loco's did not have any problems. I agree with you about the traction tires on the trucks. Both my K-Line Alcos and switcher would derail on O-27, O-31, & O-42 level corners when pulling heavy loads. As said in upload, I solved the problem by adding weight to the top of the front coupler, under the shell for cornering. I called it 'The K-Line hop.' I also blame it on too much torch from the front DC can motor as well as the traction tires and the inability of the front truck to move at all except from right to left. Had the front truck had some play, I believe it would have traversed the O-27 curve and climbed the grade.
