We all are wowed by the flicks and tricks of these incredible athletes, but what struck me more when I had the opportunity to see Messi live was how much time he spent in warmups just doing the very basics. Nothing fancy, just one and two touch passing, simple dribbling, simple trapping, basic keepy-uppy. Probably 95% of his routine when not doing drills with teammates was just that stuff.
