Loved this song when first came out, I had just brought my first car and I drove to top of mountain with my friend, we were singing all the lyrics . I suddenly realized brakes weren’t working correctly. I slowed down to a minimum around all the curves and we made it safely to the bottom! Can u imagine what I said to the dealership!!! I was soft spoken but not about this. Got new brakes, was happy, but today would have been a law suit? Selling a car with defective brakes!!! Who knew back then. Thankful we survived the 1970’s! Thx 4 reading…

IIRC, this video was inspired by the late Fred Astaire, God rest his soul, who, in one of his movies WAS dancing on the ceiling. If I also remember correctly, Fred was dancing on a ceiling that was actually on the floor and it was made to look like he was dancing on the ceiling. Also, in the movie Easter Parade, Fred was dancing slowly in one scene and the people behind him in that same scene was dancing at normal speed in the same scene.

Christopher Nolan used similar setups for "Inception," I think. There was also a sci-fi movie called "Upside Down" a while ago. 2012, I think? Twin planets, gravity reversed, something like that. And getting two sets of dancers, with one upside down, in the same shot, isn't rocket science: it's a composite shot.

It's a masterpiece. It's also fascinating to watch, knowing that the set is essentially a rotating box, carrying the camera with it, how the box quivers and shakes a little as people move their positions during the sequence.

It sounds as if the same technology was used with this song as was used in the movie where Fred Astair danced on the ceiling. Amazing considering how many years passed between the two routines. 😊

One of the best song of the 1980's. Incredible video, this song definitely is a dance floor filler, incredibly beat, sound, singing, uplifting, moving! 1980's and 1990's were great, great music, and I think many people tried dancing on the ceiling after watching this video.
