I agree. The tmcc RS11 is in the same category. Always liked those as well.

Great video and layout! My layout is a 9'x 8' set that is built to resemble the Cass Scenic RR. I originally was only interested in geared steam engines and equipment related to Cass. Living in Middletown NY, the M&NJ freight service runs right next to my home which inspired me to get the MTH M&NJ 44 ton switcher. Well, that started my interest in collecting freight Diesels and rolling stock. I am about 1 & 1/2 hours from Scranton PA where the Delaware Lackawana operates many Aloc's. Visiting Scranton a few times has inspired me to get an Alco for my set. My 40th B-day is in about 2 weeks and my wife has bought the new Legacy D&H patch paint #414 for the occasion and I can not wait to run it. I must say, the Alco's of this era have become my favorite Diesels. I have plans of getting 1 more C-420, then a few of the new RS-27's when they release. I agree with your video, I feel these Alco's are not appreciated enough. Hopefully in the future, more Alco's of this era will be released.

Fantastic video John! I low-key love these diesels, I'm definitely going to look for a LIRR version.

I’m *pretty sure* these dropped in 2000. My 2000 Service Station Special notes that it has “All-new Tooling”

Excellent review. I have 2 of the Legacy releases, D&H and Susquehanna, low hood and high hood respectively. They do have Bluetooth 😉. But I completely agree with you. They have that classic rounded aspects of ALCo, but also looks like any other diesel at the same time. The contrasting of the high vs. low hood is great when run together. Really solid, dependable engines. Just like real life.

Alco in the 60s developed a reputation for making poorly built and unreliable diesels. They were the most successful of the big three steam builders to transition to diesel. Alco’s most famous steam engines are probably the NYC Hudson and UP Big Boy. What’s great about models is that engines that weren’t successful in real life, are more reliable in model form. Great review.

Very true of many O Scale products, Turbine, Triplex, etc...Thanks for watching!
@davidkoehler136 Жыл бұрын
they dont make 0 scale. Over sized flanges, couplers, and moving pilots are not scale . they are very fine O gauge pieces, but not scale
