Lionel's Dave Olson and Andrew McCarter come to CLRC to test the new Base3 System.

Lionel has been working on getting the Base3 command system up for production. Some problems still remained and by coming to our layout, Lionel is able to rectify many of these issues. Dave Olson leads the Lionel team with Andrew McCarter assisted with John Billone, Michael Fradin and Herb Koch from CLRC.
On Testing Day 1, the Base3 system was tested for radio frequency (RF) strength testing various locations, antenna types, and other concerns which could interfere with the Base3 system.

This is great, I have my Base 3 on Pre-order. Did they mention when it would be shipping? Also I can't believe that this video only has 1.2k Views. This is big stuff for Model Train folks!

I'm so glad the choose the CLRC to do some of their testing! I feel like we get a sneak peek, getting really exciting! One Question I had, do you think that I should get a Cab1 Remote or will I be able to do it all with the Base 3 app?

@@craignoll3088 Craig, I appreciate your comments. Regarding the Cab1 remote, in discussions with Dave Olson and Andrew McCarter, the Cab1 will not work with the Base3 system. However, there will be an APP for smart phones and tablets that will work. Also the Cab2 will work with the Base3 system. Herb

@@craignoll3088 I think you mean the CAB-1L? CAB-1 = early TMCC days and CAB-1L is from the Legacy days. The Base3 supports both the CAB-1L and the CAB-2 remotes.

@@amac-lionel Yes, that is what I meant. Sorry for the confusion... Right now the Cab-1L remotes are 149.00 and I assume that when the Base 3 comes out and they will go up, so that was why I was asking. I'm currently only using the Bluetooth modes on my engines, and either controlling them with the LC App or the remote provided with the engine. Once I get my Base 3 I thought it might be nice to have a hand held remote and I guess I was wondering if the CAB-1L will have the same functionality as the CAB-2 remotes? I don't think that Lionel is producing those anymore?

I need some more knowledge of digital signals. I found myself not understanding a lot of what was going on. Does Lionel have a book or some resource for this information?

Just got my Base 3 after 6 months waiting on the pre order, only to discover that the Base 3 utility isn't coming out until Sept 1. How did you get it? It''ll be extremely frustrating to have to lay everything aside and wait over a month longer.

yannisvaroufakis9395, I wish that I was the authority to coordinate the timing of Lionel's support utilities. All you and I can do now is express our frustrations. Hopefully the Base3 utility will come out sooner.

What I'd like to know is this..... is the Base 3 a Bluetooth based system or a wifi based system? In other words, if I'm using, lets say, either my phone or something like an Ipad, are they communicating with the base 3 threw Bluetooth or threw wifi?

@gntlmn, I got this from Dave Olson: Using a Tablet or smart phone, it’s over Wi-Fi to the Base3. The Base3 has Bluetooth only for controlling engines that have Bluetooth like LionChief. Thanks, Herb [e-mail]

I mean I love trains but some of you guys need a gym day instead of a train day. Honestly if you omit all processed foods and drinks from your diets you should be way better off, that way you'll be healthier and luve longer to pass on what you learned to the next gen.
