Lionel trains free trash finds today

i was riding around as my usual daily routine while bulk trash is going on and I seen a old American flyer water tower setting on top of the box of old mint condition Lionel trains very awesome saved from the trash truck and also the other 75 or so pickers on the trash picken route

There are hobby shops that buy and sell used trains & also the dealers that sell at train shows - it would have been worthwhile for the owner to try to find a buyer!

I tried to ask the train show dealers if they were interested they all told me people are buying ho & n scale those days unfortunately so I guess it's going to sit in storage into someone makes me a fair offer on it

My uncle was dealer and service center. He would tell the trash men if you find trains bring them I'll pay you cash he accired many early sets etc. for pennies.

The track looks like new - wow. This is what happens when someone dies and whoever empties the house doesn’t know the value of stuff.

That's possible but the man that put them out on the curb looked like he was about 70 years old maybe he just got out of the hobby and didn't want to sell them and maybe he didn't have any grandkids to pass them down to. well whatever the reason is great save anyway now they can be sold to somebody else that can enjoy them

@@JayPa-qk9vj It’s possible he has to move. I have about 25 RC airplane kits I’m never going to build because I’m slowing down and they aren’t easy to get rid of either but I won’t be tossing them if I can help it.

Of the 18 years of me trash picken I've never found Lionel trains before I guess there is a first time for everything

Nice set I had that same one my mine got broken and destroyed when they broke in my house bet it still works
