Beautiful! Nice haul. You really got the bug now. That lionel post-war stuff built up to 1969 have quality written all over them. Just can't wear them out.

Hey Ren, Lionel made a lot of automatic cars and automatic accessories during the postwar era. The flat car with the articulating bed is an automatic log dump car. It carried logs. It's operated by a Lionel UCS track section for use with the 0-gague tubular track. It comes with a 2 button controller that wires to the track section. I control mine with a single pole, normally open, momentary contact pushbutton switch that I get from Menards. I installed a jumper wire between contacts 1&4 on the UCS track section and run a 2 wire from the push button switch and connect to #2 and the other wire to #3 on the UCS track section. Both the uncouple and unload features will energize simultaneously, which is never a problem for me, and the pushbutton switch takes up a lot less space and is easier to flush mount in my control panel. I have the automatic search light car #3520. It is a lighted and automatic rotating seach light with generator load. It uses track power to light and rotate. It has a magnetically controlled switch on the bottom that can be turned on and off with the automatic UCS track section. The all metal automatic dump car #3469 is a nice car for dumping actual coal loads for the automatic coaling station and the #3462 automatic milk car is a real hoot. Be sure to get the milk can unloading platform that is used with it. It also requires 7 of the magnetic milk cans that load into the refer box car and a little man that pops out of the door with the milk cans. It's sure to put a smile on your face and I'm pretty sure I even heard somebody giggling.😅. The #3451 is an early all metal premium log dump car. All of the automatic cars I listed are the early postwar versions that, in my opinion, are superior both in operation and build quality. Trainz is a great source for finding a lot of used postwar and modern 0-gague model railroading items of pretty much anything you're looking for. They are located in Buford, Georgia, and allow instore pickup to save on shipping if you ever go there. Welcome to the rabbit hole. Good luck. There's no going back now. I cut pieces of scrap 1/2" plywood notched to fit my postwar 2 bay hoppers and used the leftover sifted clay Walmart kity litter I used to ballast my tubular Menards track. I glued mine with Elmer's glue all and painted with flat black spray paint and lightly dry brushed over the top with gloss mod Podge. It makes for very convincing looking coal loads. It adds just the right amount of weight without the risk of making a huge mess from spillage from derailments. It can easliy be removed and reinstalled to portray an empty or full load.

SWEET! I love new old stuff. Ive got a lot I'm going to pick up in town this week, fellow has offered up 11 cars and a big box of Buildings and other HO junk for a song. I'll prolly do another cheesy unboxing. I should hook up with bro in law and give you these old O scale cars (not the chessie).

I just looked , they are all old Marx cars. I have a locomotive and tender as well. Marx 490. Ha the Chessie is the only Lionel...

Marx guy here, the dates you see on the cars are when they were first manufactured. The same car could have been made for twenty years. I`m a prewar tin restorer as BENZ TRAINZ, " Don't Overlook the Junk"

Think some of the cabooses only had coupler on one end just considered end car not a expert on lionel the flat cars and gondolas are nice to the ones that don't light probably need new bulbs
