During World War II, Allied forces interpreter Sam Lawson (Cliff Robertson) is called on by his superior for a dangerous mission. Up to this point, Lawson has managed to completely avoid combat. But now he must team up with some equally reluctant British soldiers, including Pvt. Tosh (Michael Caine), and travel into perilous jungle territory to destroy a Japanese communications base. The men must now face the once unthinkable prospect of becoming heroes.
Starring Michael Caine, Henry Fonda, Cliff Robertson, Ian Bannen, Denholm Elliott and Harry Andrews.
Originally released in May 1970.

When I watch sonn I'm sorry you'reme of these nostalgic movies I feneveeel tears rolling down my cheeks. Ww1and2 especially Vienevtnam, being a veteran as a commando paratrooper with 3tours sadness takes over and pictures re-appear people must understand that it was children who saved the world. I am 70 years young and a lot of my family served. God bless those who

Michael Canes Cockney accent gets me every time. One of the UKs greatest actors, so handsome with his blonde hair and blue eyes. Denholm Elliot plays the role of slimy officer so well. John Lancelot Blades Percival, another great actor, Comedian and singer. Clifford Parker Robertson American, another great actor. The whole cast made it a great movie. Never tire of watching it over and over. Many thanks

Never could understand why the British didn't sortie out to protect the soldiers returning from the patrols. They could have chased the Japanese unit away from the edge of the jungle. It does make for one hell of a plot device to have the men have to run all the way in though.

The Manning up of a 40 year old man child. That is going to be a hard hike, and he was the fittest of the four, he woke up on a beach with a beer in his hand.... and he really let them down. A lot of Moral wrestling, do we hide for a dew days and let thousands get bombed on ships heading to a invasion. Without your life on the line you can easily judge. The two who surrendered, then told them the location, they are on their own no matter who you are. There is no moral dilemma. like a heist movie and a horror thriller. These guys had to be burglars before they were soldiers.

Since when did the British ever use AMERICAN made Thompson machine guns instead of their British STEN machine guns? Along with the Japanese using BRITISH made BREN machine guns instead of their JAPANESE made TYPE 99 machine guns ???
@amandagordon7932
@amandagordon7932 Ай бұрын
The Japanese Bren is probably supposed to be a Type 96 light machine gun which resembled the Bren, and the British used the Thompson before the Sten was invented. Special forces preferred the Thompson because of it's reliability

Aye, and they wasted far too much time talking to each other and listening to the Tannoy, every minute counted re the distance they needed increase from their pursuers. It was the time they needed to run across the field at the end of the trip, and what’s worse is that they knew that, i certainly would have gained every minute i could. Still i suppose it’s just really artistic licence,I’m sure they wouldn’t really have done that.😊.
