One of the problems with special forces hero worship is that positive reinforcement tends to exclude the failures, such as Operation Agreement above. For example, in a debacle on a similar scale, the Brandenburgers lost virtually their entire Parachute Battalion trying to seize Romanian airfields in August 1944, but you never hear about that.

Please back off on the music track. It’s a great story, but when the music is overdone it distracts and takes away from it. The music’s intensity is unnecessary for the story, is a distraction, and it makes it harder to understand the narration.

On the contrary, they were the men/women who risked their lives notwithstanding knowing that all the odds were against them in those missions! This is called blind courage and bravery!

they never fought the germans they spent all their time stealing weapons and ammunition for the real fight...against the british in palestine in the end the british high command saw throug them, and they were disbanded, the lions were folded into the pioneer corp, digging toilets and trenches

Just read a book on “Orde Wingate “ of the Chindits fame ….anyway he was involved in putting down the 1936 Arab revolt against the Jews in Palestine…he recruited a night brigade to eliminate Arab terrorists attacking Jewish villages…the biggest praise reaped on him came from Moshe Dayan who said they learnt everything off Wingate on unorthodox special forces warfare ….

Tam o'shanters (TOS) not berets in Scottish regiments but you're correct in why Scottish soldiers were used in the thumbnail. Perhaps this was part of the deception in case German, Arab or Italian spies were operating in the area.

Never heard of the SIG and the war footage of the North Africa campaign does not help as its too Generalized. Operation Agreement, of which the SIG were part, was a total disaster, nothing went to plan. Instead of "Undermining the Axis war effort", the goal of the plan, it cost 1,575 Casualties, 3 Warships and 14 smaller boats sunk. The Germans and Italians lost just 15 men!
