When you look at the parcells/Payton coaching tree when they are grooming somebody to be a head coach they usually don't put them into coordinator positions because they want them to focus on the whole team so they usually have them as a position coach. Not saying it's impossible it's just unlikely for Montgomery to be the coordinator.
