The quick underneath routes were available with the coverages Detroit gave them. KOC refused to anticipate the blitz and dial them up. Basically everything Goff was doing to beat MNs pressure, Darnold could have been doing too. The gaps were there but they didn't take advantage and went for longer developing routes instead. Sam also did have open targets but consistently missed when he rarely did all season. Detroits DBs were beat constantly but the throw was off, even with no greater pressure than any other game. Sam simply choked and KOC refused to dial up more short game looks and run the ball. Detroit did OK on the run but no so well that KOC needed to abandon it completely.

In slow, stop motion and elevated camera yes but that's not what the QB is seeing in real time. Those short passes work with anticipation and timing. The QB has to throw it before he sees it. Goff wins his quick throws by reading the defense and anticipating what will be there before he sees it.

I was telling Lions fans to calm down, our defense is going to be okay, we got iffy coming back he'll be full strength against the Vikings, and I figured anzalone would be full strength since he had a broken arm he worked out his legs kept himself in playing shape, having those two right there back in our defense, is a big difference. I'm still looking for that Vikings fan who said he was going to unleash the wrath of TJ hockenson on us,two catches for 9 yds.

I'm not sure Levi finally having his "breakout" the last regular season game of his rookie contract is enough to drive his price up. Maybe if he keeps it up through the playoffs.
