The Boks beating the Lions 3-1 in 1980 was a great achievement considering they hadn't played tests against a major nation since 1976. Nass Botha was definitely the star for the Boks but Pienarr was a good full back and Morne DuPlessis was a great captain.

Rob Louw was one of the best loosies who played for the Boks.Bill Beaumont stated that they would have taken the series if Rob was not involved.

Wounded lions. Terry Holmes Gareth Davies and Fran cotton all sent home injured. Decent SA side. Tests close. Rob was very good for sa. If fit the Gareth Davies nas Botha confrontation would have been interesting. They became good friends. Tony ward had a good game in his test. Catharsis for south Africa after 1974.
