I remember as a kid in the 60s and 70s boxing was on broadcast television. The fight was a big deal, like the Superbowl. We all watched, and it was the main topic of conversation the next day. Then HBO bought boxing and made it all pay-per-view. In the last 40 years I can count on one hand the number of matches I've seen, and they were all reruns. I have never heard of most of the champions since then. Now the NFL is going in the same direction with all these streaming services. Guess I'll start following curling or fencing.

Marciano is gonna be hard to top. Undefeated in 49 fights with 43 KOs? Not the most wins, but 0 losses and a high ko ratio? How is his record not the best. Even so, some guys like Wilder and Seldon almost having a 100% ko ratio is gnarly! Big George murking 69 is awesome as well. This was a fun vid

@@erik_not4prophet_morano172 his records not the best because all his notable fights are with guys who were fossils. Jersey Joe was like 38. And he schooled Rocky the entire fight till the lucky 1 shot KO. Someone like big George Foreman who had 5 losses (2 robberies included) is much more impressive because he fought EVERYONE. He demolished the greats of 3 eras. 70’s 80’s and 90’s. Despite losing he’s still more impressive

@@MrManWithPlan In his second fight with Walcott he beat him in the first round. It's true that he didn't fight better guys in his prime, but he also had something against him: he was smaller than many of his rivals and he still beat them. Nowadays he wouldn't be considered a heavyweight, he could even fight two divisions below the heavyweight. while foreman or ali were bigger and heavier.

Usyk is nowhere near as impressive as rocky. And rocky isn’t widely regarded as the greatest. While yes their win records are unbeaten someone like Ali, or foreman HAVE been beat but they’ve fought way better competition and have improved from the rough competition. Foreman took most of his losses in his 40’s and still reigned from 1994-97

Marciano was small compared to later fighters. But the guy ruined a lot of fighters with his power, so many are described as "never the same" after fighting him. Classy guy too. I think if he fought in a later era his record wouldn't be perfect due to some of his injuries in the ring would have had the ref stop it. The one fight he won by ko a round or two after he basically had his nose split wide open

I agree, he fought a low caliber of fighters! When he came up against someone who would test him he folded each time.

Schmeling knocked out Louis in a non-title fight in 1936. Jimmy Braddock was champion at the time. Louis went on to win the championship from Braddock, then K.O.d Schmeling in 1938 in a title match.

@@dna1364 You must be kidding! Several fighters were given the WBC title without fighting anyone! Ken Norton was the WBC champ without ever winning a title fight! There belt looks great but there is little substance behind that crooked organization. According to you Tim Witherspoon was the real champion when he had already been defeated by the real champ Larry Holmes who had the IBF title!
