Watch out once the US Eagles start beating all the top tier teams in the 15 man game... They'll truly be a force in world rugby!!! Their 7s team have defeated all the top teams in that game for awhile now so everyone needs to be put on notice...💯💯

Thanks for the heads up Steve. Although I think you'll find the 15 man game is another beast altogether. I love the fact that the US is doing well in the 7n's but it's a massive step up to compete with the top 8 let alone the top 4. I wish u all the best.

It's gonna take a long time for the USA Eagles to compete especially with the likes of The Springboks, The All Blacks, Wallabies and the six nations teams let alone the Pacific nations teams as well. The need more exposure and they need to get more kids on board because that is where it's start from.

Olympic success appears to be the most effective platform through which Rugby can promote itself to the broader American public at the moment - despite increasing Player numbers & some recent success - Rugby remains a very minor sport in America (North & South).

Probably true.. But in generations to come USA will be a great team. A lot of young Americans grow up looking at the NFL and have a great understanding of it... When the new generation start looking at rugby at a young age and having the same depth of understanding they'll have a winning team. Plus it's so much easier for kids to just grab a ball and meet at the park and play

From what i can see the only thing that i can see holding them back is body language the game is all mental when the other team scores the body language is for all to see and you don't want the other team to see you wounded, learn to brush it off and move on once you learn that art then its only upwards for the USA team in my humble opinion, learn the mental game of the training pitch as well as on it, just a thought,

To agree would of the comments. Rugby union is not about winning Olympic Gold medals or the Olympics. Its about playing 15 man a side rugby and going to the Rugby world cup which is the holy grail of the sport and winning it. 7 Rugby is the short version of 15 a side rugby. But its never about Olympic medals. If the United States wants to compete at international level all the time. Then the Olympics has to take a back seat. There is a reason New zealand,Austraila, South Africa, Argentina, England, France, Wales , Ireland, Scotland, and Italy are the top 10 nations in the world. We dont give a shit about the Olympics. Ask any Rugby player which he or she with win a Olympic Gold medal Or the Rugby World Cup 90% of them will pick the world cup every time. Rugby is one of those sports along with football(a.k.a Soccer for americans) that does not need the Olympics as it is already popular and growing world wide. The only thing good that came out of the Olympics was that americans needed it to get there just for them to take notice of the sport.
@dvapboutique45035 жыл бұрын
Rowan, the US has to focus on the Olympics in order to attract the attention needed to get the top athletes and resources required. Right now its a minor sport in the US and doesnt get our top athletes nor the grassroots development needed to develop the second nature skills required to be successful at test level.
@phillipmichaels54594 жыл бұрын
Yeah. The Olympics is gonna be the venue for rugby in the U.S to grow. It will then shine a light on the 15s team and hopefully be a contender for The big 10 rugby nations. As of now rugby has to take on football as America’s favorite sport, but if the USA team wins in the Olympics, then it will certainly make a dent.

Who else on the team is from Fiji beside ravouvou
@raubi15495 жыл бұрын
The thing is the those Pacific Islanders that are not from NZ settle in NZ or see themselves as part Kiwi. Can't say that for NH's Islanders. I'm South African NZ have never poached talent to be the worlds best the pacific island nations have a cultural, economic and geographic relationship that makes them co-dependent on each other.
@DJ-ce3hq5 жыл бұрын
Thing is, New Zealand don’t poach Fijians. There are just many Fijians and Polynesians that are brown and raised in NZ. NZ don’t go all the way over to Fiji stealing players, they take the Fijians that were raised in NZ. If the US have any Fijians neon and raised there they would take them. They just don’t have many at all

@one shot I agree that injuries are more prevalent in the NFL but that has more to do with using the body as a missile compared to proper form tackling. I would rather run head on into a football player one on one that's for sure
