Janko keyboards “kind of” work like string instruments, where there’s multiple ways of playing the same note (e.g. guitar open B and G string 4th fret)

As i see it, the drawback of any isometric piano layout is that you have to look at the keys. You cant differentiate where you are by feel.
@KennyCnotG11 ай бұрын
Actually you just need to mark the keys with slight divot, bumps, hash marks etc. You could mark C & F like a Chromatic button accordion & boom, no sight needed

Not to knock these guys, but I'm still banking on Paul's modern day Janko.
@Persun_McPersonson4 жыл бұрын
I have to agree, especially since a given note's keys are textured differently than the others so that you can orient yourself on the keyboard while being able to keep the layout regular and logical-meaning that no one can use the argument, anymore, that you'll lose your place on a Janko due to the keys feeling the same without any "pattern" to use as a reference point. All the benefits with no drawbacks, finally!

Isn't this a copy of Paul Vandervoort's invention?
@Persun_McPersonson4 жыл бұрын
Paul Vandervoort didn't invent it; he improved upon a keyboard design made in the late 1800s by Paul von Jankó (Hmm, same first name... Curious). Lippens has simply redesigned the keys in a different way than Vandervoort has. And yes, we've had over a century (two years away from 140 years) to adopt the Janko layout as the standard, and we're still stuck with needing to learn 12 different fingerings if you wanna play in all keys.

I'm tired of all of these weirdly arranges keyboards just learn how to use a traditional keyboard
@Persun_McPersonson4 жыл бұрын
Janko keyboards are factually better in nearly every way, and sticking to convention for the sake of it is just foolish.
@Persun_McPersonson4 жыл бұрын
Also, the Janko keyboard is nearly 140 years old, created in 1882. You'd think it's existed for long enough that'd it become the standard, but stuffy fucks like you continually halt any progress towards something that would make _everyone's_ lives easier.
