Lippert LCI One Connect LED dimming aka Compass Connect

During the 2022 Michigan Grand Design Owners Rally, I was able to meet fellow GDRV owners and discuss LED lighting and how it is TOO BRIGHT at night, whether it be interior lights, awning lights, or nose cap lights. I had come up with a solution a few years ago to dim these lights however Lippert and Grand Design teamed up to create a smart phone controlled system that changed how the lights were controlled. This changed the wiring... and I was able to reverse engineer it during the rally. The results of what I learned are here in this video.

Great video and was really interested in the Awning LED light reference you mentioned. I have the 2023 2970RL Imagine travel trailer. This RV has two slides outs on both sides opening up the living room area and allowing an island in the kitchen. However, it also means you have two awnings vs. one. The brilliant engineers decided to ONLY wire LED awning lighting on the non-slideout portion of the RV, which means the slide-out awning is dark o lights. Makes it look like half your RV is lit up. So I purchased the lippert Solera LED lighting rod\lights from lippert as the awning was already prepped for a LED light strip to be mounted. However, I need to get power to them. I know HOW I want to do that which would be nice and clean\hidden, but I need to find the power to the current LED awning strip internally so I can run a split from there. I know where the controller board is (its under the bathroom sync), but not sure how I determine the LED lighting power cable.

UPDATE: I used my AMP Clamp and found that one of the single wire "power only" wires on the top right of the board was receiving power when the LED Awning light was turned on. So I tapped into that wire, connecting the negative to the negative terminal located on the bottom left of the controller board, and BINGO, I now have a second power feed I can fish out to my second awning on my slide-out! Now beings the fun task of actually fishing that wire through the floor and properly adding it to the slide-out wire bundle, and over eventually to the awning and LED wire feed. Weekend work!!

I have same question about where exactly do u connect your 3 wires. Red to power on circuit board where the brown power was. White to brown wire to led lights and. Black wire to ground. Still not working. Help. Thanks ChrisN

where did you connect the dimmer ground? I tried the ground on the unity input ground, but lights won't dim. I used the same 3 wire dimmer switch.

Hi John, I have a 2024 imagine comes with factory install dimmer switch next to the compass connect panel. Every time if I used the dimmer switch to turn on the light, compass connect panel will make humming noise. But if I use the switch on the compass connect panel to turn on the night，noise goes away. Any idea what cause the humming noise? All wires seem to be tight

John can you post the dimmer you used on the 22 mke? Also it's pretty strait forward in finding the 12v output to the lights..I use a power probe. Test light would work also. The small switches I looked at don't look like theirs enough reach thru the wood panel..the info I've dug up so far shows 12v from control output Thru the switch and ground to ground. Is that correct? Thanks Rob
