Thank you for testing and reviewing our product! Looks great! One tip for people working in colder areas, if you place the bottle (cap closed) in a bucket of hot water. the resin is easily heated up and you can actually print some hours in a cold environment. the leftover resin will turn solid on the part after printing, but in an ultrasonic bath of >19C it will melt and clean it properly.

I would like to point out that if you look at the casting the area below the sprue attachment spot. You start to get a little degradation , the top half is excellent . Your sprueing location is trapping ash and gasses can't back around the corner. You are using a tall enough flask to accommodate moving the sprue to the bottom. Also smooth out all transitions. I have been a caster for 45 years, it can be very rewarding.
@vogman2 жыл бұрын
Thank you John, I completely agree in honesty. I normally attach my sprue at the lowest point, as was done with wax casting to allow as much of the wax as possible to run freely from the flask. However in this instance I was being deliberately hard on this resin, testing if it really does completely burn away. I think given what I hard time I gave it, we can agree that it did a pretty good job. But thanks for your input. I truly value to opinion of those with real world experience 😁👍👍👍

Sunlu _used_ to use those same bottles for their resin, I loved them. Unfortunately they seem to have switched to the same ol' plastic bottles most other vendors use as of late. I kept all of those empty aluminuim bottles for storing excess resin from different mixes I've made; they're perfect for that. Pour in some IPA and shake it to clean out an empty bottle.

Excellent work! When you put the piece in the ultrasonic cleaner to remove the investment, what is the green liquid/if mixed with water what ratio? What temperature and time do you use for this step? I am thinking about buying a blasting cabinet to use with my pressure washer to devest but as a home hobbiest it it is more convenient to use the ultrasonic cleaner. Thank you for the videos!!

Hello, you describe flipping flask after an hour in the oven. Can you explain that to me? Isn't an hour too soon? The wax hasn't come out yet. Thanks for the info and your videos, they help me a lot.
@vogman4 ай бұрын
Is that what I say? I can't be sure without replaying the video, but typically, you begin with the button upside down so wax, etc, can drip out. Then, after the hottest burnout temperature and at least an hour before pour, you rotate the flask 180 degrees to help any trapped gasses escape 😁

Have you ever dabbled with making your own alloys Geoff? I like bronze, but it's not always the color I want. Premixed white bronze is ok, but I feel like I burn out a lot of the zinc and haven't had great success with it. A little intimidated to try making my own alloys since it can be expensive to track down some of the trace metals. Also, at least in your videos you're always using ancient bronze and it looks great...what temp are you setting your furnace to? I have noticed conflicting temps on Rio's website between the print on the site and the MSDS. When I contacted them the representative gave me a temp that was definitely wrong so I don't think that particular person knew anything about that particular topic. Just curious what works for you as I kind of feel like I've been winging it. Working, but always wonder if things could be better. Experimentation is great, but expensive in time!

So I got this resin for my phrozen 4k mini and 8k mighty. I'm still messing with settings to get it right but I had a question if you have the time: I'm running into the resin drooping/pooling in some of the tighter areas. I assume this is because of sub-surface scattering from the resin being semi transparent. Do you think there is a solution aside from playing with print angle and doing it in multiple parts?

You say this is a wax based resin, is it possible to melt it with little heat after printing? I think I read somewhere that most casting resins (Siraya for example) dont really melt at all, but rather burn up at high temperatures.

I wouldn't think so. These have wax content, but not enough to make them melt like wax. They typically revert to gas in the burn out process.
