Liquid carbon products are important tools for fixing an ugly lawn. Changing a normal lawn to a golf course lawn requires serious renovation which takes a lot of consistent work. In this episode of how to fix your ugly lawn, we start by showing Alex mowing his lawn with a Tru-Cut reel mower. We then move to the second application of Lesco Carbon Pro L. This time Carbon Pro L is being applied at the maintenance rate of 1 ounce per 1000 square feet. We apply it using a Chapin backpack sprayer.
🔴 Golf Course Lawn Store Carbon Kit: golfcourselawn...
Lesco CarbonPro is an organic soil enhancer that improves soil quality which helps grow stronger roots. Stronger roots equals healthier grass that is more resistant to drought. It also help the turf maintain its color even when under stress.
As the series progresses, we'll document a process that YOU can follow to transform your ugly lawn to a golf course lawn. In this episode we talk about the benefits of carbon soil enhancements to your lawn care program.
Carbon Pro is similar to other carbon fertilizers like Carbon X that promotes deeper, stronger roots. Stronger roots allow the grass to better take advantage of soil nutrients. This improved nutrient uptake makes your turf grass more efficient which allows you to have green grass using less water.
The CarbonPro soil conditioner allows your turf grass to perform better in drought and other stressful conditions. For those either trying to seed new lawns or overseed established lawns, Carbon Pro is similar to Carbon X in that it improves seed establishment. We are using it on Alex's lawn as a liquid aeration tool of sorts that will help improve nutrient uptake.

Hi Ron, You are really committed and killing it this season. thank you for all the uploads. They continue to be helpful. I wrote to you a while back about seed heads. LOTS of them. You mentioned plant growth regulator and I never followed through. I will look to go that route but I have to admit that I finally determined what my real problem is and that is a DULL blade on my Tru cut C25. How frequently should I sharpen my blades and do you have any videos on doing it myself. The one quote I have off for $200.
@RonHenry
@RonHenry 4 жыл бұрын
Heya Queron. Are you in the Atlanta area? You should be able to get the reel sharpened for a bit less than that. $200 is what I pay for a full service including reel sharpening. The place I use for service is Keystone Rental in Duluth, GA. Really if you're only cutting grass, you should be able to go an entire season without having to sharpen the reel again. I just top dressed my lawn so it's likely that I'm going to have to sharpen the reel on my Tru Cut this season again. Likely next month in August. Thanks for the kind words about the channel. I'm trying to step my game up with producing helpful content for people wanting to improve their lawns. I really appreciate you watching the channel. Thanks for the support. 😎👍

Nice Ron, question for you... have you ever thought about applying the Carbonpro L through a hose end sprayer? I’m thinking of doing on my next application in a few weeks...
@RonHenry
@RonHenry 4 жыл бұрын
Heya Tom K. No I haven’t. I’m not sure how accurate I could get the application doing that. I suppose if you have your hose sprayer calibrated you could pull it off. This stuff is very concentrated though. Do you have a buddy with a backpack sprayer you can borrow? If you use a hose, let me know how it works out. 👍😎

Looking so green! So healthy looking! This is the first season I've actually been proud of my lawn, I patched in some spots with a sun shade mix over kentucky blue, so it looks a bit funky, but it's certainly green. I live in eastern washington so my zone is way different. I think I may have to find some bermuda that will grow well here.

@@RonHenry that's great to know, my summers get dry and hot, like 110+ at times, but the winters here can drop to sub freezing. I think I made a mistake putting down annual ryegrass. Think I might over seed with kentucky and hope it pops through the ryegrass. I'll keep watching your videos to see what I can learn.

Where would you recommended someone get a mower like this? I am using a rotary and though about getting a manual push mower, but another side of me wants to go big next season and get one like this.
@RonHenry
@RonHenry 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Twin Cities. If you're going the new route, then a Howard Brothers or any other Tru Cut dealer should be able to take care of you. If you're going pre-owned, you can usually find Tru Cut reel mowers on Facebook market place or Craigslist. A reel mower is easily one of the BEST investments you can make in a quality lawn. Mowing is the most important thing to get right after creating healthy soil using testing. If you'd like to see a review I did on it check this out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qIqVlWeJf6ummac If you REALLY wanna geek out, this summer I compared the Tru Cut against a Toro Greensmaster which is another type of reel mower. Enjoy: kzbin.info/www/bejne/apmli6Kqhbifrqs

@@RonHenry There are a bunch on the market. I have used Turf Mark, Blazon and an old Lesco product that I have forgotten the name of. BTW, most are water soluble and won’t permanently stain hard scrape. Just read product reviews and select one that sounds the best.

@@richardgleason5953 sounds good man. Thanks for the quick response. My big concern was with them turning the lawn some funky color. Like you said, I just need to look at the reviews and pick one. For applying herbicides, I can see where it makes a ton of sense to avoid over-applying in a given area. 👍

If a true cut mower is a little out of the budget... do you have a second recommendation? I’ve seen some silent cut reel mowers when I look up the true cut, for a smaller lawn (approximately 600 sq ft) would this work?
@RonHenry

Heya. Outside of a Tru Cut, the only reel mowers I've manual reel mowers I've used are a Scotts's 16 and 20" reel mower. Those can work great for a smaller lawn and produce good results.

Can the golf coarse look be achieved with all types of Bermuda grass. I think I have the Bermuda with runners
@RonHenry
@RonHenry 4 жыл бұрын
Yes Darnell. It doesn't require a special type of Bermuda. You can achieve a golf course lawn with any of them. The main areas for Bermuda type comes into play is when you're applying certain chemicals like plant growth regulator (PGR) and if you're overseeding because of color match.
