You can use a liquid product that contains a high percentage of iron to get a greener lawn. Iron increases color depth. Something like this:

Ron, this case study on how to have a magnificent lawn is to learnt by heart. I would like to ask this question: do you need the fence? I like the fence. Perhaps you have deer coming in to eat the shrubs. Even bears…

Alex just needs to get the run times down so it doesnt run off and drain to your yard or get water damage.. but you seem to have good drainage..my neighbors yard slops down into mine my builder had to put in a french drain and that side of the yard grows like crazy from double the water mine and next door... or you may just get a greener side lawn then the rest lol.
@RonHenry
@RonHenry 4 жыл бұрын
Good point Fred. We have really good drainage between our lawns so there shouldn't be any issues with run off causing a problem. He hasn't really needed to to run the irrigation due to all the regular rain we've been getting.

I just ran a few sprinkler heads above ground on spikes this weekend. I am currently learning so I can install in the off sesason. I will do it by hand as my yard is very small maybe 2 zones. I want to do that then top dress and overseed/reseed a dead area in the spring so here's hoping I get it done. Congrats Alex.
@RonHenry

Sounds like a good plan rahimlee54. Having irrigation is really more about convenience than anything else. 2 zones shouldn't be too bad to install and get operating nicely. You'll definitely be setup to get a good result from overseeding. Being able to water regularly also helps with recovery from top dressing. Let me know if I can help with anything. 😎👍

@@RonHenry Thanks sir, I appreciate the effort. I like to tinker with electronics so installing irrigation gives me something else to automate and tinker with plus convenience for my newest side hobby lawn care. After years of poor treatment to the turf its time to remedy that and have it look nice. Getting in the routine this year and soaking up knowledge. I've got a ways to go but between your vids and a few more, plus reading next season I'll be prepared.

HiA Adam. I only have experience with Rainbird systems and all the ones I've worked with seem to do really well. I'm sure Hunter also makes a good product. I've never seen a system from Orbit so can't really comment on that. In your area I'd go with whichever is most common so that it'll be easier for you to find replacement parts should that ever become necessary. 👍😎

Thanks so much JonD. I guess as more people discover the content, the channel will grow. Feel free to share it with anyone you think would benefit from it. @RonHenry
@RonHenry 3 жыл бұрын
Depends Jonathan. I'd give Rainwater Sprinklers a call and see what they say. They were very reasonable and did a great job. Figure anywhere between 2 - 4k depending on the size of your lawn and number of zones. That's just a guestimate though. Rainwater will be able to tell you for sure. Let them know I referred you. It might help or hurt! 😂👍

I live in a new construction and the irrigation was put in before the sod was installed. With the less than stellar finish grade in the dirt, you can see the irrigation grid due to low places on my lawn. I like the method shown in the video much better. In my case, to find a positive, I will get to do a good bit of leveling. If you want to make a short trip, you can come up and help.... I mean film later this summer when I get to the project. 😁

Ron Henry, been thinking about what you told me a couple weeks ago regarding seeding ryegrass in the Fall. You’re right, there will definitely be competition between the ryegrass and Bermuda once things start warming up and will possibly only cause further delay in my bermuda coming out of dormancy. Don’t want to risk the total amount of effort and $$$ that I’ve put into my lawn so far this year, ya know? Thanks for the advice and for being a voice of reason.
@RonHenry
@RonHenry 4 жыл бұрын
That's what holds me back from doing it Adam. It looks cool in the winter time to have a green lawn but that transition period (going into dormancy and coming out) will be challenging.The 2 grass types will be fighting each other and in my opinion will look unsightly. Plus do you really want to be out mowing in the middle of winter? 😂That's also what keeps me away from doing it.

Hey Ron! I have a quick question. How long will it take to see results? I acquired about an acre of land and it’s trashed (some holes are 4 foot deep). Love your work and can’t wait to start doing this to my lawn!
@RonHenry
@RonHenry 4 жыл бұрын
Hi T3AM. It kind of depends on how bad the land is. If we assume healthy soil, then you should start seeing results as soon as you get the weeds under control. If you're trying to turn the acre into a golf course lawn, then we'll need to level the property too at some point. It really depends on your goals. The same process we're doing on Alex's lawn will work though. Everything will simply be on a larger scale. When you soil test, I'd probably do at least 3 of them. Test each 1/3rd of the property individually to make sure the amendments you're applying make sense for each zone. Hope this helps.

Thanks so much T3AM. I really appreciate the subscription and notifications. You can definitely get a lawn as good or better than mine. Just takes work and consistency. @RonHenry
@RonHenry 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Abel. There's not really a "high setting" per se that Alex mows his lawn own. His current mowing height is around .65 inches. The lawn is maintained at that height throughout the season. As far as pets, go, the only product where you'd want to keep them off the lawn until it dries is the Spectracide. amzn.to/3dtpIXA If you were to apply it in the morning when the grass is wet, I would keep them off the lawn until later on in the afternoon once you're certain the product has fully dried on the grass. In Alex's case, he keep his dog off the lawn until the next day. Thanks so much for watching the content. Let me know if I can help with anything else. 👍😎
