Excellent vid, I know the feeling when the belt breaks and you think oh no !!!! I took my Majesty 250 to the Italian alps and had trouble with her getting hot climbing the passes, I stopped and let her cool down, I 'm going to fit a manual switch for the fan to try and stop the problem, as belt and braces idea better than relying on the thermo switch.

I'd imagine that's pretty rough on the larger scoots. The small stuff is pretty much designed be WOT most of the time due to low output, but the big stuff isn't. I hope turning the fans on earlier can at least help. If not, you may need to consider altering the effectiveness/capacity of the cooling system for stressful use. I'm not sure what the fan is like on the Majesty, but maybe you can find some people experienced with them and find out if something like a fan upgrade is useful or maybe there's another known weak link.

@@49ccscoot I thought about fitting a larger rad but the scooter wasn't designed for mountain climbing, so you have to expect some issues, I think fitting a manual fan switch will help, if not I'll just stop and enjoy the scenery while I wait for her to cool down :-)

When you smoked the vino he did give a priceless look at you. There is a guy with a kymco next town over from me who did the same to me. I was on my KZ 1000. He only got the one shot, I smoked him next light BADLY with my front lifted banging gears hard right to 5 th gear. He made his point, and i mine. Caught up with him at a gas station a few days later in town. Variator, weights and 20mm carb - Dellorto phbg stock cylinder. Not bad for 50cc's. It showed me what a well set up variator can do. Gives me a lot of hope for my pasta scoot. I have a lot of time till spring, thanks to winter in the northeast dragging on for so long......

I'm sure most people think I'm a stooge taking off on the scooter. I always hope they will smoke me at the next light. When I rev it up at a Viper for example, I don't think I can win... but I'll have fun watching/hearing them speed off. :) CVT tuning makes a big difference sometimes.

As an example. Last night in the rain i took out my '76 Kawasaki KE175. Went buy some stuff for dinner - 12 year old boys can eat at more than you would think - my son. get there and leave. 1 st light the guy a few blocks away on his hardtail hog looks at me and shakes his head ands says to me " John when are you gonna get a real bike " Green. he pulls away with all the noise and gets 2 gears away and it dies with a loud bang. I pull over and help him out - engines are greek to him i know him. We sort it out, coil lead came loose. And again it's why do you ride that junk? Because i can is all i said. Then he rips at me with what about that scooter i saw you on a few weeks ago. That thing won't do anything for you but make trouble. He does not get it. It's all an image thing for him. The older and nastier it looks the more i like it. Anyone can put put a key in and press a button. But take a rusty pile and make it run well, you get something out of that. Besides knowing how to fix everything. Johnny is the pres of a local bike group, and he would like it if i would ride with his boys. He likes my '87 fxrs HD. It needs everything and is cost prohibitive to rebuild at this time for me. And he just does not get why i ride junk. Well last night my junk saved his bacon, he would have had to walk if i had not been there. So next summer i'll park the pasta scoot next to his bike when i see it parked in town. He'll get it. I'm drifting again. have a good..........

I get it. I'm surrounded by Harley riders. Can't generalize anyone though. Some are cool. Some don't respect anything but a Harley and have to own Harley branded glasses, jackets, boots, gloves, posters, blankets, and toilet paper. Actually had a friend with a Honda cruiser break down. Harley guy stopped and said he didn't realize it wasn't a Harley and he couldn't help since it was a Honda and rode off. I couldn't stop and then leave someone because of make/model only.

I'm gonna run with what you said just a bit. I have my own identity i do not need a name to wrap myself in. security in one's self being. Hey HD's are fine for a rip around town or out with the guys for a while. Spend 3 hours in the saddle and your tired sore and deaf. I can ride the KZ or the CB 750 all day long no probs. I'm not sore or deaf and my arms don't feel like jelly fighting a 800 LB lump. The KZ or CB i put my feet up on the highway bar and sit back no hands and lean into turns nice and easy all day. I have a throttle wedge on both. Almost bought a 1958 duo glide a few years ago for less than 1k a friends bike. Unmessed with that's an HD i could get into. Brakes or lack of leave everything to be desired. I like it as it is all manual advance is set by you it's all so simple and basic. But every time you stop you gotta tighten about a dozen bolts or they fall off. Maybe someday in a moment of weakness i'll buy it....maybe. The KZ is rocket, my bud races 1/4 mile bikes. Methanol injected, has 3 KZ 1000 blocks he runs the piss out of till they get rebuilt. I got my KZ from a guy on cape cod. I found it doing a paint job on a house in Yarmouth. It was in a metal shed that leaked and had sat for 15 years. $200 cash it was mine. My bud said he would rebuild it for me cheap. He knows the engine well, $700 and i put on his truck. Got it 12 years later, i was in no hurry literally. 2 cam head 3 valves per cyl fuel injection almost 1.5 litres displacement. Frame alterations fat aluminum swingarm single shock rear end it is not a kz 1000 anymore. Handles like it weighs nothing. Accelerates like nothing i have ever ridden and can stop on a nickel. It scares me much how power it has. It is not what i wanted, but for the price i'll shut my trap. 3 ranges of fuel mapping, econ norm race. Econ it falls on it's face really easy but gets great fuel mileage. And i leave it there. I know myself i am very much somewhat insane, i will die on it if i let myself go nuts with it. I put a lot of miles on the Honda as a result. At least it does not want to kill me. The KZ wants rip you off the seat, almost like so your too much of pus-y to ride me, FINE i'll do it myself i don't need you. The 175 is like a bmx bike, stop lay it down on the bars. Pick it up one kick and gone. I don't think it's much over 200 lbs love that thing. Center stand spring got weak - you know how that goes. So i took it off. Nothing to lean it against, i lay it on it's side with the petcock off. Yeah i went really long - sorry. Gotta get my son from school. Have a good.......

I want to come over sometime, hang out and learn some scooter tech!!! Haha I’ve been playing with scooters for years and just recently started getting into the more techie stuff. I have a minarelli 10mm wrist pin and want to do some upgrades on the head and bore. Can you suggest a good daily driven set up? I’m thinking of going aluminum with nikisil liner. Much appreciated. I would consider looking at the sport engine packages here. One of the forum members got the Polini Sport/Yasuni R package and it made his Jog into a 60MPH capable daily rider at a fairly reasonable price. www.scootertuning.ca/en/299-engine-package I've only ever used 1 aluminum cylinder. I'd only go aluminum for more race oriented. The iron kits are easier to deal with IMO. More likely to seize than melt a piston with iron. If coatings get messed up the cylinder is trash because recoat is at least as expensive as a new kit.

I thought the beach scenes looked a lot like Fenwick/OCMD. I’m a Baltimoron but live in York PA now. Nice videos from the build and then test and tune. I’m only one month into scooter owning and was lucky enough to get a 2 stroke as my first one. Keeway f-act. I was unaware that a water cooled conversion was possible. There's a lot of stuff for these 2Ts. I wouldn't advise going to LC right away unless you have really big plans or just want a challenge. The AC stuff is still quite capable.

49ccScoot It is highly unlikely that water cooling is in my future. There’s a very large range of options while still staying air cooled. I have never even had the CVT case off yet. The rolling hills of South Central Pennsylvania are a bit of a drag. I can maintain 40 mph on most roads but the back roads and the hills do drag it down to 25 miles an hour

Good video, but make sure your current measuring clamp is fully closed and not blocked by a cable. This will make measurements inaccurate. Spal is a good fan brand. Best regards from a german Scooterguy ;-)

I'm not real familiar with the Hondas, but there are definitely water cooled cylinders. Not sure about pumps, but an electric pump is pretty universal and most of the other parts are as well. There's a guy on my forum (pitobread is his name) that is a talented machinist and he has built some. He has a youtube channel as well so you might want to check that out and/or come see his stuff in the builds section of my forum.

I had 1 more thing to throw at you Try a quart of motul racing pre mix. Not cheap but worth it, i tend go a bit heavy on my mix after i killed an engine in my youth. Very high temp esters, a bit will drool out of your pipe once it loads up. I have NEVER seized an engine running that stuff - ever. I guess you could but it would be hard to do. There is 800T this stuff is more i forget the numbers. Personal opin it's the best you can get - there are many opins out there. 20 years ago all i ran was castor, and that works great. But you gotta de carb every so often, and plugs get gooey as well. They clean up with brake kleen fine. As does the pipe. Old stuff i mix at 40:1 - gooey but good, i'd rather clean than replace. 46 - 47 :1 ratio in something i'm testing is still magic mix. Dirty but super protective - and since it does not burn holds temps down as well. A settled tune 50:1 is still very protective with a bit less drool. The very high temp esters leave a lot of oil in the crankcase, bearings will never want for lube. And you can go a bit hot on the plug and not worry. I think it's a two ester ratio - maybe 3 but i think it's just two. Try a quart i think you can spare $10 for a quart. It might be more now. Give it a go, for test builds it can't be beat. Just cut it back when it is close to dialed and it will not make a mess. Been running the racing ester in my KX 500 since break in 12 years ago, nothing but smooth cylinder wear and very little of that. Fine scuffs on top of the cross hatching - that tells all that needs telling. Golden spectro another favorite, i mix just a bit of motul racing with it for insurance. That is also great stuff. If it fails to do what i say it does, i'll send you a check. I believe in it that much. How do you think i keep a 42 year old cylinder from destruction after i honed it all nice - spares are not low cost for the KE175. Available but not low cost. Wiseco is my source. Hell i'll send you a quart and then you can tell me good or suck. I'll read the ester number when i get home if you care. Back to work.....

I won this battle on my lc scoot with a computer fan on each radiator. I used a relay that was energized by my brake light. So anytime I was at a light, I just held a brake to let the fans run. It was pretty simple and effective.

@@nme1605 Before I made cutters, I did my cases with fairly basic tools. I did have my very first stroker engine machined and it was expensive so that ended that. The cutting takes hardly any time for a machine shop, but they have to get it setup right and that usually eats up time.

Whoever called that a head-gasket needs their tools taken away and all degrees shredded. Make yourself a copper head gasket or at least carry a can of copper spray. It shouldn't take you more than 12 minutes to change out that gasket. If you keep a air pump with you just make yourself a spark plug adaptor so you can take off the cap and put a little air down the cylinder next time. The moment you fear it's blown test it and replace it man, that's a great way to seize your engine. Moving hot water around don't do nothing. It's not about flow it's about moving the heat out of the water. I can run steam through 1/4 inch copper pipe into a single core radiator. It comes in at 215 on the top rail. I have a house fan blowing on slow speed behind it and the water is at 76 degreesd by the second rail (a/c radiator) and it completely cooled all she will by third rail. You don't even need two radiators. You need air and that's all. In chemistry we always pipe water into condenser from the bottom so that all air bubbles will get moved out with flow. I cool a pressure cooker's output to 65 degrees in one glass condenser using a keurig pump, 7 volts and sling shot rubber tubing. You don't need a closed system if you build it right, just a submerged pump that pushes all air bubles out and lots of air. My propane stove boils 5 gallons of water in 4 minutes and then I distill 1 liter per minute so their is no way that little piece of shit can even compare. What you need is an inverter and a inflatable air bed pump or find one dc, they move more air than any other kind of pump for low power and all you do is funnel it's output and blow it on the place where the water is entering the radiator and it should be cool . You don't need air flowing all over the whole surface, just the place where it goes in but this is something people have to learn for themselves, it's just like trickling water over the top of the radiator man, forget all that automotive crap, I could cool that thing with a twist of copper pipe and run NitroMethane all day long... or the heat exchanger from inside a cars radiator for the tranny is all you need.

I have some guys on the forum pushing me to go more toward the race end, but I actually ride. If it can't ride 200 miles at a time, it's useless to me. I think it sounds fun, but I just don't know what I'd do with race stuff. I'm not an "around the block" kind of rider. I'd love to have 20+HP to take to the car show and play at red lights, but I need lights and it needs to run for 8-12 hours straight... then be ready to do that all over the next day. That's the sort of setups I like, and I don't think the race end is meant for that.

Hey brother you really need to keep these videos coming. I have been advising in my builds an have looked to your advice about how I should approach and what to look for. I have a air cooled af16 Honda elite. I also have a Keyway 2 stroke minarelli clone that I have stage6ed out. My Honda air runs between 265 an 310. I have burned up a few of my builds. What temps should I be running with the air cooled jobs. I will be moving on to water for my clone so please put more of your videos up. Thanks a bunch! 265-310 sounds fine. It will vary by gauge and setup from what I've seen, so you kinda have to know what your setup likes and keep it there.

I try to always wear long pants, a riding jacket, gloves and a helmet. Boots and riding pants are a different story. The problem is, we don't know when we are gonna crash. If I knew I was gonna crash into a deer last year, I wouldn't have needed any riding gear because I would have stayed home.

It would have to be two very similar setups in very well matched states of tune and really closely monitored to get any solid data and that takes more time and money than is available to me for such a test. I can tell you that CHT runs cooler on the LC compared to similar AC stuff that I've had by at least 20 degrees F measured with an under plug ring. I've put quite a few miles on the LC stuff now, but I have been running rich. Still the big thing that I notice is the difference in performance all day long from being stable.

My old cast iron cylinder wouldve ate that part and spit it out. It already has eaten two wrist pin holders and not one scratch on the cylinder once I cleaned it up. It looked like serious damage but nothing once the iron wool was done, the piston on the other hand is aluminum. If I was you man, I'd just stick a shot glass of Nitro in each tank and gear it up, that stuff has all the power you could want and you don't need to change nothing, just use amsoil and run super rich. My 50CC v1 would stay up with your ride all day long but I don't have to rev it half the rpms' you do

Liquids cooled is a better design that cools more evenly and effectively, but it depends what you're after. Air cooled scooters can be very reliable and you don't have to worry about added maintenance and leaks and the space that LC components take up. Air cooled can be fine for many situations. I'm hoping to get the scooter that I crashed on the road again very soon.

in your 2stroke scooter do you mix you oil to your gasoline or you have separate container? i am having problem with my scooter where in the oil accumulates in carburator.

I always remove the stock oil injection and throw it in the garbage. All of my two-strokes are pre-mixed. I like it that way because I know what it's getting without any guessing.

It's hard to go wrong with the Minarelli engines if you want a 49cc based 2T, so older Yamahas like the Zuma, Jog, Aerox. You can do clones like me, but the Yamahas are better quality scooters.

What's better for cooling electric pump or mechanical stage6 cnc pump

They both work very well, as long as the electric pump has sufficient flow (lots of pumps out there that meet the demands). The electrical pump takes some small amount of load off of the engine vs mechanical. The mechanical pump doesn't tax the electrical system though, which can be an issue with racing ignitions that have no or little power output.

I am having trouble with having my water temp at 114 to 122 Fahrenheit when crusing and isnt that to low? And what should the temp be around?

If it will stay there, that's OK. We want them t run cold with a 2T so it keeps the incoming charge cooler. I do like to see it warm up above 100F at least, but I'd be OK with the temps you're seeing. You could always use a restriction somewhere inline to slow down the flow and see if that warmed it up if it runs colder or block off part of the radiator(s).

Can any1 help got a peugeot speedfight 2 50cc liquid cooled engine starts but got sludge build up in the bottom of the crank cases could it be broken waterpump or the gearbox oil as the no engine oil with it being a 2stroke as the 2stroke oil lubricate the engine

If it's still oil injected (you just put the oil in a reservoir rather than mixing it with fuel) then it could be a bad check valve in the injection system. Not sure about the Peugeot, but with some scoots that can let oil run into the carb or intake and make it's way into the crankcase.

Hello Mr Brent, fault finding pesky leaks has driven me past madness and stumbling into the path of HYLOMAR blue non- setting gasket maker . Metal on metal can't go wrong decades old cure for air leaks . No work time limits and reusable 2 stroke gold . And for coolant , Hylomar Hylotyte Red also non-setting , untested but they give me confidence. A few more peco 's indeed insurance for mental health . Either the 50 is fast or the 150 is slow. Check the basics on the 150, like good compression and carb and CVT tuning.

Just thought i would ask this. Are Kymco 150 cc engines any good? Guy next to my sons bus stop was out kicking it this morn. We've shot the scooter crap a few times. He asked if i wanted it. As in here is the title get it gone, i'm done with the pos. 3.8k miles it's an '06. I have been told some good and a lot of not good. I'm just not sure it's worth my time and cash to make it something i can sell and feel okay about it. I don't think it's worth much to start off with.

I know at least some were GY6 engines. Being Kymco, it should be decent.

Thanks. Guess i'll need to look closely at it. It's been dropped - plastic is a mess on one side i think it happened where it's parked - dirt. I think it's a case of no engine skills and it needs someone who has them. I know full well what will happen. I'll take it home, fiddle a bit. Get it to run and not want to sell it. Over the weekend i will kick it around in my head. Would you want it? i'll go over it and if it's not junk i'll crate it well you pay the drop ship?? I have a lot of wood. 4X4 posts and 1 inch plywood.....It's a thought anyway. I know myself, if i take it here i will not get rid of it. Let me think about this. Kymco is a Taiwan brand. Not like the mainland China scoots that are pretty much the bottom of the barrel. Prob not as good as European and Japanese, but not bad. Thanks, but no. I had a 150. That size engine isn't really for me. Had to tag it as a motorcycle here. Too slow to be good for that.

Well....I just did a horse trade for that scoot. Got it, put it in my beater truck. Had a deal set up with a scoot head about a mile from me. Cyl head bolts were loose, a few turns all around and it ran well - ish. Needs a carb cleaning. I left with a yamaha it200 and a Marlin bolt action .22 rifle and 3 mags. Yamaha sat for a very long time, plastics are junk, lights work. Nice high compression almost 150 psi. Bad dry rot on the tires. .22 has same issues age and neglect, bolt moves and seats firing pin is slow but works. I tossed the offer your way being tired and not thinking clearly - up too long and had ridden too far. Had you wanted it i would have been fine with it. Did not want to see it end up as scrap is all. I think that you handled things logically, at each step. I think that your piston issue was design defect. I suspect that heat is killing your belts. The belt is just made of fiberglass/kevlar and chemical rubber. If the rubber get's too hot it falls apart. Recently, to gain belt life, Piaggio made the transmission cooling fins larger on their 3v motors.

Once I got the Wiseco wrist pin bearing, I noticed that the Taiwan made bearing that blew apart was significantly thinner in some areas.

@@49ccscoot idk where my initial reply went but no, I've never shopped with Scooter City. They sell Chinese bikes like Wolf, TaoTao and Ice Bear; although the last time I drove by they had KBG KeyWest for sale too. I've always done business with George and Craig of All Wheels and All Scoots, they're the local Genuine dealers and I'm a bit of a Genuine fan lol. I currently have a RoughHouse R50 that Scooter Swap Shop is building an RC One for, and I have a Buddy 50 that's pretty much bone stock for now but eventually will go aluminum BBK, likely a corsa, and get a bunch of take off parts from my R50 like the drive train components and exhaust. But that's a little firther down the road once the R50 is sorted.

Just thought i'd share my misfortunes. The '01 yamaha IT200 is a real dog. So many have done half ass repairs on it it's just toast. Rotataing assy is great. Reeds , carb fine. Swingarm bearings are junk. Forks are toast, new springs and if i can seals. Maybe it will be okay. Wiring is a scrap job, start fresh is the only way - nothing works, but voltage is there. It runs well-ish. intermittent is hell. - Wiring maybe. Grounds are all rust - outdoors for way too long. Rifle's fixed and fine, only good part of the deal. The bike has been passed around young kids for a long time, as a result it is hacked to death from those who thought they knew better than the last one. But fail to see what was needed as a whole. I will say this. The engines is great, trans is also. Not many hours. Clutch is junk, sheared bolts and worse. Shaft is okay. No metal in gear box oil at all. The rest is junk. Complete junk. Shoving it around, it weighs around 200lbs. With a 200cc engine, it should be a great bike on the trails...If i can get it there. what a toilet, This poor thing has been beaten to death and left for dead - no wonder i got so easy. Wow how many of these have a had a life like this and left for junk. I am gonna try to fix it, the basis is good. I'll never get what i put into it back, but i will have the time. I'll give it to my son when it won't kill him. He is 12. It will be a good bike for him, not too much power but enough. Once he gets the pay attention part of learning down, he will get it - hopefully. Or i keep it.

Wow SLOW scooter. Watch what we do in France or Europe you'll be astonished. We go much faster. Anyone in Europe with such a set up (except your exhaust) eats ANY sport car at a read light and most of the 600cc bikes. I'm 29 years old I ride 2 stroke engines since I'm 12 years old and I got a 86 TPR tuned with 2 aditional boosters,tuned the horizontal ans lateral diagrams, a longer crank shaft to be in 88cc, a 28 oko bored in a 30.5 oko carburator, mvt digital direct, bidalot gear box, metrakit pro race exhaust. That's about it and I've been using this engine during 4 years every day, it was the only bike I had. Nown I ride a Triumph Speed Four since 5 years but I still use my old bike to do enduro with it. Search scooterpower, scooter tube, teamp RPC 83, tha'll give you an idea of what's a 2 stroke bullet.

I'm actually building my first hyper race engine now. TPR 86cc. It's about the same as this ATM, but it's using the same pipe and same stock style ignition. Switching over to MVT DD06 now and an exhaust intended for it later. Part of the acceleration issue is that I'm a 300lb rider, but these bigger kind of generic setups will never make huge power. For a point of comparison, on a stock Chinese 4T, it took 23 seconds 0-30 with me on it. This does it in about 4 seconds, which is the same that I get from my TMAX. Not quick/fast, but quite a difference compared to the small scooters that I see around here.

@@49ccscoot Your weight is not an issue AT ALL. These engines got lots of power. Got watch some videos you'll understand what I'm talking about. Even if you'd be 400lbs you'd flip on your back if you full throttle. 0-30 in 4 sc is super slow. WE do 7,141 sc on 200m and 146kmh but italians do even better.

@@Joe_Dalton701 Well, a=F/m (acceleration = Force divided by mass). So weight is absolutely a concern for acceleration to some degree. I get it though, and I'm not trying to be argumentative. If you have enough power, mass is of less consequence. I have seen many videos of high end stuff. I haven't spent my time studying exact setups, but I've seen what they can do. I've avoided it for years because the one thing that I haven't seen much talk of is long trips or day to day riding. More power (and more mass to carry around) will result in more stress. I'm gonna see how it goes with the 86cc though. It would be great if I could handle long rides and didn't annoy me with an on/off throttle or eat itself in short order.

Sadly, not the first time. I've had at least one other, maybe 2. One was revving higher, so I sort of understood it. I tossed out the no-name bearings I used on occasion, like the one from this Taiwan made kit. Ordered Wiseco B1042 wrist pin bearings in hope that they hold up better. I've used the B1042 and B1043 before (different sizes) and so far none of them have blown apart... but then lots of my generic ones didn't either.

I think if it were on more or in a spot nearer any body parts, I'd be more inclined to figure out a guard. As it is, I'm not even sure if it will ever come on unless I blow another head gasket.

Just cut up and spray paint a small kitchen sieve black and fit it over. A lanyard etc could easily get wound up in it too. I just don't see the logic in not having a shroud of some sort. If not for your safety, perhaps for others?
