I don't know for sure because I don't have the stock fairings anymore, but I would guess roughly 35mm. It shouldn't be too expensive to pick up one of each of a couple sizes near it (like 30 and 40) or use the depth function of a caliper to measure distance from seat on the panel to the threads. Or just get a longer bolt and cut it as needed.

I finally pick up a used 50 cc scooter top speed is 28 mph GPS .I replaced the carb,with 84 jet,pod air filter,clutch, belt , varistor,and 6 gram rollers. High performance it said. There’s no spacers ?I set the valves. Tire psi,Used your video TY!! It struggles to get to 30 mph.I don’t know we’re to go from here. I would be happy at 35mph like all the other videos are getting. What should I play with next?

I would suggest going through a tuning process with the carburetor and the CVT to be sure you are getting the best results from your main jet and roller weight choices. A lot of variators do not include any shims.

Buy a 49cc scooter for the no plate requirement. You then need to convert it to a 125cc gy6 short case engine/ cvt. Then you have a good around town scooter. The short chassis scooters are not a safe highway bike they are not stable. I use mine for local errands only, never had any issues with the law

You can try the procedure with oil in heated water in the bucket, but the rubber parts should hang on a wire inside the bucket and not touch the water. You need to cover it with a lid so that the vapors do not fly away quickly. This way, the rubber parts will be soaked only with hot oil vapors. And of course, you can try different temperatures.

i have a question. When i removed my egr from the engine cover the hole looked closed. When i tried to put something in it it didn't want to go further (and there was some carbon on it, so i thought to not put an extra metal cover on it. When i started the engine the exhaust was making a loud noise (louder than normal, but not the same like driving without exhaust). Why does this happen? When i remove the whole system, do i still need to block it off? And how does even the hole work. Does it close and open? I hope you can help me.

@49ccscoot6 күн бұрын
@@revali2863 You can do a mild version. I used to do it that way. Mostly softening the transition the best you can without removing much material. These days all of my Minarellis are backfilled and trenched if I’m gonna bother with it. If you really wanna get technical, you can look up ideal primary compression numbers and figure out where you are now and check volumes along the way to see where you can go without straying too far from that.

I've never done it on a TMAX, but generally the oil is drained. Then the clear part is broken so the sight can be pried out.

@49ccscoot6 күн бұрын
Not even sure that was available back then. At the time, the smallest they had to my knowledge was the 30mm.
@jimmcgreehan36246 күн бұрын
I realize this is an old video but was wondering if you've ever figured out your problem.? My gut reaction is that you might be overcarb,d. Lectron makes a 'micro mini' , that's 24 mm. And that's recommended for 65 to 80 C C engines.
@49ccscoot6 күн бұрын
I gave up after ruining a few pistons. Too expensive for what didn't seem like any gains. Lectron wanted me to install more power jets to try to richen areas where it was getting hot that couldn't seem to be corrected and also suggested that maybe the 30mm flowed too much. Just sold the engine this month. Still running strong with a 25mm round slide DellOrto on it.

Howdy..... I know this is one of your older videos but I find it has been very useful for my own testing purposes..... A little background..... Piaggio Fly 150 2016 model that has a malossi 185cc kit installed. Round trip commute daily of 40kms with average speeds of 80kmh. My requirement was to lower the revs of the engine to make use of the extra torque and maybe conserve fuel as well. In std trim it will do about 190kms per tank. I have a malossi multi variator and belt kit fitted and 13gr rollers. Being an engineer myself I understand gear ratios and the like and experimented like you and tried a few different combos of parts. I ended up with a slightly longer belt than the oem. 816 22 30 off a Honda pcx125. It's low gear was flush with the top of the driven variator and on the boss of the front variator..... Perfect for low launch off the line. Here is where I tried something that I have not seen on any videos I could find. The std roller is 19x17. I used a set of 21x17 and the difference was amazing. Nothing done to the clutch springs. Engagement was at 3000rpms so a nice transition from idle and smooth in traffic. At 80kmh the revs are down to 5300 as against 7200 std. Will sit on the freeway at 100kmh with power to spare..... Very nice..... Uses all available surface of the front variator. The goal was better fuel economy and the range is now out to 230kms running it out. Mission accomplished in my book. Thank you for all the detailed information you provide with your videos. Happy scooting.
@49ccscoot9 күн бұрын
Glad it worked out well for you. I have heard of this before. Never tried it. Depending on the variator, larger diameter weights could push the variator closed more at idle and act as if the CVT has already shifted a little before taking off. Not good for strong acceleration, but at least it works for your needs.

@49ccscoot21 күн бұрын
My stock Chinese four-stroke did that to me when I had the stock carb because I could never get the tune right with the non-adjustable needle; even with trying to change how the accelerator pump worked. A new carb and some tuning fixed that. Otherwise, I'd make sure the fuel system is all good and flows well and do a CVT inspection.
@KingGem2421 күн бұрын
so you think the carb could be the problem?because i tried changing the springs and now it rides a lot better but still takes a little bit of time after letting go and giving gas again and it doesn't stay at 20 for now.

what do you think would be the best spring setup for my standard 3kj jog with 3.5gr roller weights
@49ccscoot20 күн бұрын
If CVT tuning is improving it, then I'd probably continue that course. Again, inspecting the entire CVT for issues first.

Hi Subject: Additional Tips on Using Posi Clamps Hi We appreciate the video you shared! However, if I may offer some additional tips on your rotation process using the Posi Clamps: you can really crank them down using a ratchet for a secure fit. Don’t hesitate to tighten the Posi Clamps on your wheel-they’re specifically designed to withstand strong pressure and tighten effectively. When I change GS wheels using the Posi Clamps, I make sure to tighten them well to prevent the wheel from slipping in the spools. Additionally, if too much spray lube was applied to the spools, it could contribute to slippage as well. Your video was great, and we hope these suggestions help improve your process! Best regards, Sue from No-Mar

Thanks for checking it out and offering your advice. Since the video, I've been using a ratchet strap to help hold wheels in place and that works well and is pretty cheap and simple.

i've seen this video many times and i didn't notice that you missed something in the polini variator manual. Polini reccomends only 1 of the 2 shims in the box (2mm) behind the variator when you are using this particular belt. I can send you a link if you want to

@@49ccscoot you're still using it with 4mm of shimming behind the variator? how many mm of shimming in the front? i have a full polini cvt setup and i've found that 2mm behind vari and 1.3mm belt shims with new belt is the best result, curious to know what your setup is now
@49ccscoot21 күн бұрын
@@rockys777 Honestly don't remember what I've got behind it right now. The shimming between boss and fixed half changes based on belt width as it wears for best RPM spread.
