There's a clear difference and, yes, Jordan joining the band was a huge factor. But there was also the fact that the band just stopped caring about pleasing the studios and just did whatever the hell they wanted. DT was reborn after LTE... and became more popular as a result.

It’s funny that I actually think he’s overplaying! He could do even less... there always that little fill that says « hey, i’m here! » Yes he punches some stuff musically, but the idea should be to be the least noticeable!
@kungfuman823 жыл бұрын
@@thekitchenfreak then why show up at all if the idea is to be the least noticeable? MP knows how to accent things and add his own flair, which should be the main goal of all musicians in a group. Good groups gel together, like LTE does.

Nothing against Mangini, but his drums never sounded right to me. In their first album the whole mix was terrible, not just the drums, but in their newer stuff it sounds like he has always sounded, from when he was touring with steve vai through james labrie’s first solo album. He has reverted to his preferred sound, snd i much prefer the way Portnoy tunes his kit.
@jbmusicman13 жыл бұрын
@@HNedel Yes, his pre production decisions combined with post production decisions made for a horrible overly compressed sound. His drums are tuned so low that they all sound the same. Even the octobans don't sound right. It's a mess and it's a shame because he's an amazing player and an even better guy to hang out with. The last album (D.O.T.) showed some hope but they're still not right which tells me they're making them sound that way on purpose.
