I was able to guess correctly. That being said, I think Liquitex has done an amazing job with the Cad Free paint. Thank you, Liquitex for providing your customers with a choice that doesn't require a sacrifice in appearance. Had the two not been side by side, I feel that I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference. Thank you, Ginger for the wonderful painting!

I had guessed that A was cadmium but both colors are very vibrant. LIquitex has done an amazing job. Thank you for testing this out, Ginger. :)

I just bought the Cad Free since I was running low and wanted to try them. Could not tell the difference even used in the same painting. Great job Liquitex! Thanks Ginger as always.

Amazing demo! I received the test kit & had not had a chance to try the cad free paints. Now I’m so intrigued. I am impressed as well. I was able to score the test kit with the cad red thru Jerry's Artarama on fb with Amy. I think it's really a great alternative because as much as I love the cads, they do cause me to have itchy eyes & a bit of asthma after a long period of time. Really cute painting too. Thanks for sharing your liquitex cadmium test with us.

Thanks so much, Ginger! Your test paintings were much nicer than mine. I only did a swatch test for the reds I received. It’s always better to do a complete painting to test differences.

I liked doing the complete painting as it was large enough to really see how it mixed and handled with not just itself but oranges and blues to make the green of the water melon.

Thanks so much! I guessed that A was the paint with Cadmium in it...but I will say it was just a lucky guess. lol They both look the same next to each other. I have no problem with using Cadmium paint but this is great for those who can not. Thanks so much Liquitex and Ginger for showing us there is no difference...except the cadmium. :D

I guessed B was cadmium free but that was a loose guess... I would buy them.. I think Santa is bringing the Cad red and cad yellow tho.. Lol.. Maybe I'll take them and exchange them.. Thank u Sweet Ginger!!! Merry Christmas to yall!!!!

Very interesting., I use windors and Newton proffesional and liquitex heavy bodied. I will not change as these paints are the best for me .👏👏😉😉😉good video ginger . Hugs x

Not just the allergy, but the toxicity. My apartment is air tight and I don't open the windows much in the winter. So I was thrilled with the new line of cad free.

I guessed that A was the cadmium. The colour was a lot more to the orange side which I find in cadmium red medium.

Cad red is supposed to be an orange red.

Hey Ginger, Just want to know if you know if the cad free is the same, less, or better in chroma and tinting strength? It appears to be in your paintings but have you tested them completely?

thats why i did 2 complete paintings and mixed them with blue to get the greens too. I think the opacity is the same and they dry and do not loose their color. In the past some brands of substitute hues were often way brighter/ or duller than their cadmium cousins in some brands and did not mix the same. These seem to be as close as one could get the the way real cadmium red works.

We talk about allergies with the cads but we know nothing about what’s in the “cad free” and people COULD be allergic or become allergic to it as well. Is there any way to find out what is in it?

Well it is thought that the actual "cadmium" is what a very small number of people are sensitive too. Just like we use Titanium white and not longer 'lead white"..

Ginger Cook thank you. I still use lead white in my oils. I’m glad they have an “alternative” for those who want it but unless they bring the price to cheaper than cad’s for an everyday use then it’s not a concern for me really. But it is nice to know that I could grab the cad free with no worries about differences when the real cad shelf is empty at the store.
