i just discovered you a few weeks ago. I have to commend you on your commentary. Usually when people talk during every moment of a video I end up muting them...too much talking. You, however, talk during the whole time but it is a joy to listen to. You have a great way of explaining things, you talk a lot but none of your words are wasted. I lean in to every word. You have opened up the world of watercolors to me. Thank you....and keep talking :)

I think we must be psychically linked! I want to get looser, fresher results in my paintings and you are showing me how. Also, when you were using the Nickel Azo Yellow, it looked like muddy green to me and I couldn't imagine it looking yellow, but the result proved that you know what you are talking about. Thank you for taking the time to teach us on KZbin.

@@LironYan Not so good... ughh... I do have to say I had fun, it was a very different way of approaching the subject and I like it. I will do a few more of these. I probably will get a fake sunflower and use it as a reference. It was hard for me to follow your reference picture. BUT, this vid made me paint flowers again and I will not give up. What did I hear today, it is not that you "get something when you achieve your goal, it is WHO you BECOME while doing it..."

An excellent - and very persuasive - video, Liron. By persuasive, I mean that at the beginning I just didn't believe that any good could come of that unholy blotchy mess that you'd created with the first wash; it was so obviously doomed to failure (I'm talking ever so slightly tongue-in-cheek of course). And then, bit by bit, you brought us closer and closer to the final version - until, Pow!, the background worked its stuff and that luminous vase of sunflowers appeared like magic out of the murkiness, with its fantastic glowing light. Yep, I ended up persuaded of the valuable effect of negative painting and its ability to totally transform a painting. Job well done, sir! Thanks for the video and best wishes, Brian.

Wow Liron, I love this! The way you did your shadows and the vase make it look so 3D. I enjoyed seeing how you simplified the layers and the order you used with washes. I was surprised because when i first saw you were leaving the petals raw, I wasn't sure it would turn out for you. I was surprised by how beautiful they turned out it was exciting seeing the outcome so beautiful! Thank you!

Nice teaching, but what I really like is the sunflowers painting. I was waiting the whole time for you to put a bright yellow glaze over the light part of the petals, but you didn`t! All the light came from the darkening around the petals. Great lesson.

Hi Liron, I actually watched this to see how you did the background, as that is super helpful for me with what I'm painting. Thanks again for talking your whole way through this - I feel your sense of urgency with keeping the edge of the background wet. BTW, to me your sunflowers are a very muddy color. I don't know if that's just the camera. But I've painted a whole series of sunflowers now, and they're a very HAPPY yellow (except for that one dried one I painted, and the red one).

I could definitely use a brighter yellow! The main bulk of the glow effect probably came from the values and keeping the petals light. However - a brighter color could definitely enhance that effect - give it a try! 😁

That looks like a Majello (sp) or Fusion palette. I've got one and really like it. Are the colors on your palette really that dark? It looks like there are no, or almost no, light or bright colors. I know there must be. I mean...I see some yellows and reds show up. Where do you hide them?
@debbiebuttars55985 жыл бұрын
Really wonderful. I love watching you paint and your commentary is so helpful. The bright/light values seem too dull or lacking in pigment on the petals. Am I crazy? Or is my eye lacking in sophistication?
