Lisa Eldridge came out with her Seamless Skin foundation a few months ago and now that the hype around it has faded a bit, I thought it would be time to review it. This claims to be a seamless, soft and skin-like foundation...let's see about that.

I bought this foundation when it came out and as selecting a shade online is not easy, I had a wrong shade. I mixed it with another one and it was only OK. Recently I was in London and went to Selfridges where the make up artist helped me select the right one. This has now become by far my favorite foundation. I apply a very thin layer at a time. I have combination skin, slightly on the dry side, I am 65.

Oh interesting. I'm glad you were able to find the right shade. I love that you can get samples but it's still tricky choosing the right one online.

I’m 60 and love this foundation. I have dry skin, rosacea, and deep lines around my mouth. I’ve had no issues with settling into lines, and my skin looks filtered. It took around 25 foundations for me to find the one, and this is it. It’s gorgeous for me.

I have dry, dehydrated skin and at 47 it not getting any younger. I had similar results as yours when I tried it first. Next time I prep my face properly with my usual skincare moisturiser, and applied the foundation. This time it wore quite nicely through the day with some t-zone shine after 3-4 hours. Finally, I tried it after the same skincare as before but this time I let my moisturiser sink in for 5-10 minutes before starting with make up. The result was truly soft focused satin feel (like no other I've used through last 3 decades) till the end of the day. Just a tissue pat on and around nose once in between. What I loved was how there was no change in colour and texture. As for settling a bit in certain crevices has been inevitable (especially at nose edge, even when I was in my 20's) unless I opt for heavy made up look (which is not my thing). I guess, this foundation has versatile synergy with our skin prep, which actually suits me better because my skin moisture levels changes throughout the month (damn these hormones!)

Thanks for the review. I had the same issues with this foundation (drying, emphasizing pores and wrinkles) but over time after experimenting, this foundation looks good on my skin. I have oily skin. I find with thin application it works. If you get the bottle, the dispenser gives a tiny amount, and I mean tiny, less than a pea size. I don’t use all of that, I always have extra every time. But then again, not everything works for everyone :)

Hi Allison, I am 60 years old and I also tried that foundation. Unfortunately because I have mature and dry skin, I had to give it to someone with more oily skin. I love Lisa and her products and think that is a good foundation but for oily skin.

Hi Allison. Thank you for the video. I have tried this foundation before. I have super dry skin and lots of texture. I used a very light application and focused on my bad spots to even the overall complexion. I did not notice a problem. I usually notice a problem with almost every foundation. I think the light application strategically placed could be key to my successful wear test.

Thanks for the video. I am seeing all these comments as well not working for them. Surprisingly, it works for me on my combination and sensitive skin. I use her elevated glow under her foundation and absolutely love the finish ❤

Tried this foundation dec last year and had the same experience. I’m loving that it confirms we have similar skin type (not the colour) and loving the CC water fresh tint, LE isn’t working unless I have a very heavy cream under and even then it’s tricky

I ordered the lightest samples today to try it out and I hope there's a shade light enough for me with the right undertones. I will remember to moisture my skin before applying it even though my skin is a bit oily. Thanks for the review, it's always nice to find reviews of products you're interested in. :)

I do like this foundation, but I find it only works on me if I am using it over a very dewy sunscreen. It does a good job of toning that down and making me look less oily (even though it isn't really oil I'm matting down). Otherwise, it tends to be too drying for me.

I agree, with a glowy base and building this in thin layers it worked well for me. Considering it’s got no nasties I thought it performed pretty good, some days better than others. But definitely needed to add some glow to make it look prettier on skin ❤

I have mature, dry skin and I had a similar experience of it looking dry. To make it work for me , I began to mix it with moisturizer before applying and this did the trick.

So pleased this wasn't just my experience! I thought this was the worst foundation I've tried in years. I actually have oily skin (age 34) and this was HORRIBLE on me. It made dry patches and texture where I don't even have them? Weird!

This is hands down my absolute favorite foundation 🤩 I have many luxurious foundations (La Mer, Chanel Sublimage etc.) but this one ❤ When it first came out and used it, I wasn’t that happy with it but after a couple of months I tried it again and now it’s my go to, I use it every single day 🌸

Hi Alli I could see what you were talking about. I'm older than you but have pretty oily skin, (I still get acne over 50, argh!), so it might work better on my skin. I haven't tried it though. I'm wondering if the self setting part is causing creasing? You have beautiful skin though, and I've seen better foundations on you for sure!

Hi there! I'm 56, with medium dry skin on my cheeks and mouth area. I've only used this with my Kimiko CC cream, which is quite dewy, and it's been looking quite good! I'm relieved ☺️ Maybe others can use this practice as well?

Allison, my same exact experience with this foundation. It aged me around the mouth horribly. This foundation is definitely for those with an oilier skin type. I am curious to know which is your favorite foundation since we have same skin type and skin color. I also bought LE in #11. Mine is hands down Estee Lauder Double Wear and La Mer Soft Fluid. Hi, I loved your comparison with a grumpy cat😂😂😂 I have dry skin and had the exact same experience. I work in an environment where I have to wear a mask all day so I was quite happy with how my face looked while wearing the mask but was horrified how aged I looked after removing it😱 I tried to make it work with prepping my skin with more moisturizer etc but it didn’t help with my mouth area no matter what I did and I gave up. This is definitely not a product for all skin types and I don’t understand how she thought it was OK to market it as such. I do love her velvet lipsticks but I have also experienced breakage with a few of my velvets so I am on a journey to find an alternative for it as well. I am so very disappointed with this brand lately that I think I will stay clear of it for a while.

I love Lisa but this is a terrible foundation. I am still combination skin although generally drier these days but it didn't work for me even on my oilier spots. I was so amazed at how bad it looked, I even went to her popup shop in London with mine and a delightful assistant worked for ages on my skin saying the problem was that I hadn't prepped my skin enough and, after about three x of exfoliating plus serum, it did look ok (but still didn't wear evenly). Who has time for that malarky every time you want your foundation to look passable?! I gave mine to a younger friend with good skin but she also felt it was drying and showed up any skin unevenness. I still can't get my head round how Lisa has pulled off such a dud with all her experience and skill.

I also tried this foundation and I have oily skin and it was a disaster. I had the same issues as you did, but on my skin it never really set down. And when I powdered it, it looked even worse. If a product doesn't work for me, I try to re-purpose it. I tried mixing this with other foundations and same result. Alone, the others were perfect. With this mixed in - awful. I threw it out.

I don't have dry skin... Nor mature, nor dehydrated and it is the worst foundation I ever tried. Lucky you you got this impression with the samples, mine only got bad, when I bought the full bottle. I admire her efforts and the brand and the colors of her lip products are one of the best worldwide - but the breaking of the lipsticks, the melting of her lip liners and the non impressive formula of her glosses - I gave away every single product, not buying anything new and admiring her work from afar.

No one wants to look like a Grammy cat :). I also had samples but didn't purchase this either, felt that it is not for me. Recently, I am blown away by RMS foundation, it's a clean brand, the foundation has light-medium coverage buildable. But the finish, the shades are just amazing, I am getting compliments on how my skin looks despite of breakouts.

Lisa Eldridge’s foundation was a major disappointment for me. It just sat on my skin and looked like makeup. It emphasized some enlarged pores and some lines. I’m over 70 and have really good skin. My usual foundation is Chanel Les Beiges Fresh Water Tint. I have a few lines but no real wrinkles. I have no dark spots or hyperpigmentation. I was always made to wear a hat and sunscreen. A habit I still practice today. My skin is pretty normal leaning dry. My biggest complaint is loss of elasticity due to aging. I usually pass for someone in their early 50’s. This foundation makes me actually look every bit if not more than my numerical age. Yikes! Who wants that. Perhaps she’ll come out with a more moisturizing, glowy foundation or a skin tint with a little coverage.😊
