I love it but had some bad habits and after 2 tries I realized I was buffing too much and using too much. Don’t think anyone can effectively use more than one pump and next time I’m trying 1/2 pump.This is going to last a long time. Never wears off, perfect shade, no oil or dry skin comes though, and my blind spot was it’s easier and faster.

For anyone who enjoys the double wear line from Estée Lauder, I’m not saying this foundation is the same but I’m particularly fussy an an oily combo skin and usually double wear is my ride or die but I really enjoy the Lisa Eldridge foundation for lighter foundation days. I don’t find that it separates or looks patchy half way through the day like a lot of other foundations do on my skin.

Agree with above, though the only benefit for seemless skin for me is the shade range. Otherwise, have to say, still think double wear is the one for me.

I love and admire Lisa Eldridge so much that I would buy this whenever it becomes available here in the arctics (well...), but the idea of of it is just what I'm looking for in a foundation. A buildable coverage where you start with the tinyinst bit and add where needed. It was what I loved with the long discontinued Laura Mercier moisturising foundation. Rich in pigment, but adjustable to any level of coverage. I'm a guy so I don't want comments like "your foundation looks great", and even if you'd think a lighter cover would be easier to gauge, I have come to find a medium coverage foundation, judiciously applied, is far more flattering and real looking. Edited: I think I will like this better than you because I usually work foundation in with my fingers. If something doesn't apply perfectly with your fingers - why bother?

I had a sample and absolutely loved it. Got a perfect match and a full size arrived yesterday. Wore it today and it looks great after 14 hrs. But for me it's quite high coverage compared to what I usually use so didn't experience issues with building it up. It looks very skin like on me. I'm 44 and I've got dry skin. X

I thought It higher in coverage too. Now I’m gonna go for a third try to get to lighter. It doesn’t look heavy though. I used 1 pump the last time & going for 1/2 pump next. This is gonna last a long time. I love it though. My issues is I think about my own history with foundations because I worked harder with them, buff buff buff. My second try I didn’t and applying foundation is so much faster with Lisa’s. I’ve just developed habits that need to stop.

@@Donna-cc1kt My skin has been freaking out a bit due to days of cold air and I have a few dry patches. The first time I applied this I didn’t prep my skin well enough and it looked dry. I used a richer moisturizer the next time and it was perfect. I used a pump on my face, neck & upper chest mainly concentrating in the center of my face while sheering out elsewhere. I did the same with another pump to build up another light layer & used a bit that I still had left on my hand to build up just a tad in 2 areas. I wouldn’t have done that if I would have used concealer (other than under eye) but I wanted to see how the foundation worked without it. I’m loving it so far now that I have my skin prep down and I will use concealer the next time. Finding a perfect shade match has been a bit tricky for me. Interesting experience. I am typically in the 1st or 2nd lightest shades in most foundations in the winter. The very lightest shade I can kind of get away with in this foundation is shade 5. I’m actually cool toned but can use a well balanced neutral. The 7 is way too yellow for me. The 5 is actually too light for me at the moment and looks chalky on its own. Over the last year an in between summer/winter shade has worked for me most of the year. I don’t know why. Apparently my skin is getting a bit darker with age or is holding onto a very light tan longer. I went with 10 because it was a recommended shade match based on the shades I use in another tinted moisturizer and foundation. It is just a touch too dark for me. 12 is going to be the perfect summer shade. It’s the darkest I get with a bit of help from a gradual self tanner. That I know. I did purchase 5 & 10 so I could do a bit of mixing as the winter drags on, and I will get 12 later.

I went to the pop up in Covent Garden and got matched. Have to say, it’s one of the best foundations (for me) that I’ve ever tried. Feels like I’m not wearing anything and covered my current redness. Wore incredibly well all day as I went around a drizzly London, in and out of hot and cold tubes, shops etc, out to lunch and then supper…wearing a mask sometimes. It did not budge, stayed flawless (no powder needed).

Just watched this presentation and I really wish I could give you a hug or two. Your finished make up is beautiful, as always. I am planning a trip up to London to visit the pop up shop as I am lucky enough to live in Kent. I much prefer to look at makeup in the shops rather than buying on line as I difficulty in picking the right colours. Would like to look at the Trinny London products too while I am up there. Hi Gemma, Bought it. It arrived yesterday, I am wearing it today and I love it. I think I could have chosen a shade lighter for winter. I got the colour 10 which matched me to my Estée Lauder light Eurcru. I put it on over my sunscreen and it seems fine. Lovely review as always. xx

I just got mine on Monday in shade 10 and I love it. I have combination skin and my T zone is really, REALLY oily, so I immediately went in after the foundation set and used some setting powder. It’s just what I’ve learned to do with ANY foundation, because my skin is JUST that way. It looked beautiful. I hope this works better for you the next time.

I got a perfect colour match on this one (shade 7), and the very subtle undertones and perfect match gives my skin a more sophisticated look. Also it wasn't drying on me (I am slightly oily in the tzone) and as it settled it got nicer with time. It looks skin like but more enhanced. I love it!

I used the sample, have combo skin, this was really heavy looking on me and separated on my chin within the first 2 hours ! Its like all foundations, some just work for some people and not others but thank goodness for the samples $🙈

I love this product. One pump mixed with my usual moisturiser is great for light coverage. Two pumps are enough for medium coverage. Lovely skinlike finish and doesn't irritate my sensitive skin. It's expensive, but a little goes a long way and my goodness it really lasts for hours. I agree with Pampered Wolf that the bottle is impractical. A standard bottle shape would be better.

I’ve tried a sample of this and used it over a couple of days. I found the colour selection very easy and there are some good winter and summer matches for my light, yellow undertones. I wanted to love it so much and it looked absolutely beautiful when I put it on, but sadly it was no match for my oily skin and after six hours it was very shiny and was breaking up. That said, on initial application I don’t think any other foundation has looked as flattering on my skin. I’m 39.

Hi, I have tried shades 5-12 and think I am a 7 or 10. There was enough in the testers I used to get 3 days from each at the level of cover I like. I am 60 with oily skin and I loved it. I got over 12 hours of excellent cover and it did not settle into any of my lines or open pores. My current foundation is the No7 Protect & Perfect intense which I like but only lasts about 6 hours. I powdered my T zone but left my cheeks. As I am in London I will have a trip to the pop up store to get colour matched and have a good look at the displays.

I share the hope that you do a top 5 high end and drugstore favorites. I’ve ordered a sample card. I’m a light foundation lover but wanted something more medium with a satin or natural skin like finish. I need a little more coverage, probably, than I like. I’m hoping this will hit the sweet spot! I’m afraid I’ve got a card too dark, but I love that we can find our shade more easily than with other foundations.

The first time I applied I had some of the same issues with it picking up on dry patches. My skin prep wasn’t good enough. I went in with a thicker moisturizer (DE Lala Retro - it’s getting colder in my neck of the woods so it was perfect) and a creamier sunscreen. I applied one pump mostly to the center of my face, sheering it out to the sides, and did one additional layer the exact same way. I built it up a tiny bit more in a couple areas with redness and it is perfection! Absolutely beautiful. *my autocorrect is on a roll

I had the same problem Gemma. First day wearing it today and within 3 hours I was very shiny. I moisturised my dry/combination skin well, didn’t set with powder, it looked great when I left the house so I was very surprised to see how oily my t-zone looked when I checked the mirror after work. Will try again with a mattifying primer and lightly set with powder to see if it helps.

I just received the foundation and am SHOCKED at how perfect it is. I used one pump and my skin looks 10 years younger. Natural. I am accustomed to Trish McAvoy foundation, but this is FAR better, so natural, and makes my skin look stunning. I'm 73 and want a foundation that has no feeling that you are wearing anything. Astonished and worth the $61. Love it!

Just got it yesterday. I used my fingers, then tapped with fingers followed by bouncing with a sponge. It worked perfectly to give me light to medium very skin like coverage.

I have combination skin so the fact that it's not a true matte and doesn't need powder to set is great. I can definitely see, however, that a dry skin would find it a bit drying. For those skin types I would say try a richer cream under it. If that still doesn't work, give it to an oiler friend. She'd love it !

It looks lovely on you. Beautiful bottle - a work of art though perhaps not practical but I could live with that for its aesthetic. I wouldn’t like dry. My skin is dry and that’s often an issue with foundation. I’m not sure whether to go for it or not. I can’t make a mistake on that price.

Love your reviews Gemma. I do enjoy this foundation. Its one of the very few foundations that suits my very light olive complexion. Getting my colour right nailed it for me. I use ultrasun spf 50 under this foundation and it looks flawless for hours. On me it’s like a long wearing Armani luminous silk. Luminous silk however gets shiny v fast. Lisa Eldridge does not. Getting a sample was really worthwhile xxxx

Cle De Peau is or can be full coverage & 130$. Lisa’ is light to medium coverage at 44$. These two have some different goals. I know you compared cuz Cle is your personal best performer. I don’t use full coverage, prefer light. Lisa’s color match was perfect. No setting power, no oil or dryness coming though, lasts forever it seems, accepts my other products on top, but I did go though a learning mode. 1st time, yuk, used to much, 2nd time, Humn too many skin products underneath. It requires perhaps changes like using less product. Sponge, nope. Brush yes. I dunno, it challenged me. Third try - perfection. The only reason anyone would know I had a foundation on is no one has skin that pretty. I love it. I just had to examine what I had to do for other foundations isn’t quite the same. Thank you so much for this review. I felt exactly like you - in the beginning.

I’m 49 and combo oily. I adore this foundation. It looks flawless on my skin. I do set it, despite it not feeling tacky after drying down, because my nose and forehead are an oil slick. I do have to blot several times throughout the day, but that is 100% normal for me. I’ve never met a foundation that’s lasted more than 3 hours without me needing to blot. I’m totally not intending to invalidate your experience, but I did chuckle at what your oily skin experience was with this foundation (and frankly I’m jealous) because that’s the shine on my face after about 30 minutes.

Too Faced Peach Perfect is/was the only foundation that I don't have to blot and is 100% transfer proof. So upset they discontinued one of the best foundations on earth. I bought 2 back ups but try not to use it in many KZbin videos bc of that. I have oily dehydrated skin and it controlled my oils but didn't emphasize texture or dryness

I wore it for the first time today and it looked beautiful inside but out in the sunlight it looked a bit dry and cakey. I did not wear a primer or a a setting powder. Tomorrow I will try a hydrating primer. Keeping my fingers crossed 🤞🏼

I ordered 2 sample sets, found my perfect match (Light-Med Number 16, for olive undertones) and ordered the full bottle. I've worn it daily for 2 weeks and adore it! I wear a mask for at least 8 hours every day, and the only place where I lose some coverage is at the bridge of the nose, where my mask rubs the most. This foundation feels lightweight and looks natural, and the shade match is spot-on! (For reference, I'm 55, normal-to-dry skin with some expression lines and some dryness around the sides of the mouth. I apply with fingers and/or a brush. I don't have to use a primer or powder with it, but I do use setting spray to help my makeup survive wearing a mask all day.) I appreciate your honest review!

I have mature oily skin & loved this foundation especially because it does not need setting have it on for 10 hrs & did not need to blot . I think this foundation is sensitive to products used under it. Try it again hopefully it will work for you.

I thought future you looked lovely in the video. I don't know what it looks like in person but on camera it was very flattering. I checked out the price for your favourite foundation and nearly fell over at 110 pounds! That's around NZD200 and way way way out of my price league. The Clinique Even Better Clinical is NZD76 here if that helps put things into perspective :). Great video, enjoyed very much seeing your perspective.

I really need to moisturize well before using this foundation but it wears beautifully for me. Edit: I’ve been using two pumps but I really have to work quickly. Because the tint (I’m shade 15 which I’d say is good for an NC25) is so pigmented it needs to be blended out quickly. It looks much different on my skin once blended out versus when it’s on the back of my hand.

I think less is more in terms of skincare under this foundation. I have combo skin with a very oily t-zone. If I wear this with my usual skincare it does get shiny. For me, if I stick to one skincare item, moisturiser or spf this wears a lot better and the shine is much less. For the oily people amongst us I find that Double Wear is still the gold standard but I wish it was lighter on the skin. Bare Minerals Bare Pro is lighter but I find the shine comes through worse than the LE. I like the LE because it is so lightweight and on normal areas of my face this is perfection and lasts all day. Oh and I agree, the bottle is an absolute pain. I want to stand it up! You can stand it in the box but you have to make sure you place it the right way round. Hope that helps.

I feel I should prefix this by saying I’m not normally a foundation lover. After years struggling with skin and using very heavy coverage, I now much prefer the finish and feel of a tinted moisturiser. I adore Lisa Eldridge and knew as the perfectionist she is, she would not launch anything before she was fully happy with it, so I ordered a sample. I have to say I was not the colour I was expecting, but having 4 shades in the sample, meant I got my perfect match. I was apprehensive it would be too matte on me, but it’s not. I use a rich moisturiser and don’t powder and it looks like naked skin, but airbrushed to perfection. I know she is also working on a skin tint and I can’t wait to try that, but for now, I’m ordering my full size in this!

Thank you for your honest review. I also watched Ange aka Hot and Flashy, and she to did not have the best experience with Lisa's foundation, either. So you are not alone! Everyone else thus far, usually women in their 20's, have raved about this foundation. It has left me very confused. As I am in the same age bracket as you. And my skin is not perfect like Lisa. Do not get me wrong I love Lisa Eldridge so much, I adore her, she is like an artist as well as a makeup artist. I have not purchased her foundation yet. I've got the most insanely dry skin and this foundation works beautifully on me. Weirdly enough, most foundations that work on you font exactly work on me. Also just to mention, my skin does not produce oil like yours does or other people, who get slightly oily throughout the day. If anything my skin sucks up oil but this eorks beautifully. I use bobby brown face base and a lil bit of waleda skin food under bobby brown skin base and it was great! TheONLY foundarion that has ever worked on my sahara desert skin

I tried a couple of samples and really liked it but wasn’t blown away but I think that’s because I’m happy with the ones I have. It’s the price that put me off, I currently pay £12 for mine so £44 was way too much more for not a great deal more. I was thinking £30 ish, maybe in a less expensive box and bottle

Great review! Loved hearing your thoughts. I purchased Lisa Eldridge’s foundation. I have mature, very dry skin. It took a couple times playing with different moisturizers to get the coverage right. I purchased #7, but tried 5 a couple of days with the sample cards. I found, for my skin, lighter layers of moisture works best. I use two skins of water based serum, then two layers of Drunk Elephant Protini, followed with a lightweight physical sunscreen. I only need powder in the summer, so I’m a classic dry skin person, so no powder to set. Really like it best massaged in with my fingers. Wore it yesterday all day and then to evening FB game. Stayed on ALL day. Remarkable. 💗

I wanted to love this …. because it’s Lisa Eldridge. Thank goodness she does samples because despite the huge shade range, I struggled to find the right shade. I bought 3 sample cards - 12 shades in total from No9 to No20. I don’t have a difficult skin tone. I’m Medium Neutral in everything (3N1 in Estee Lauder and Laura Mercier). The foundation collected in my fine lines even with a light coverage. It also didn’t last long on my skin. My closest match after trying all 12 samples was No 20 but I wasn’t completely happy with it - it was the best of the 12. I won’t be buying this, there are other brands that suit me better both shade wise and performance.

I haven't tried this foundation. With any foundation I have to blot throughout the day. However the other day I put Elemis marine cream under my foundation instead of my normal cream and the foundation went on alot better and only needed blotting once.

I do find it a bit finicky. The first time I wore it on my combo mug, it was a bit of a disaster and broke up around the 4th hour mark, having applied the foundation on top of just moisturiser. The second time I went in with a mattifying primer around my nose and forehead, set with powder and it was great. Lasted all day even under a mask and looked really nice. Finding the right products to use underneath it seem to be key in how it looks and behaves.

I had issues with itching when using this foundation, no clue why because I don’t have sensitive skin and I was using the same skincare. BTW this is made for sensitive skin and I’m glad I tried the foundation card first as the bottle is very expensive and not buying it given it made me itchy

I wore it for the first time yesterday. I applied it twice as I went out for the evening. It's nice but hasn't wowed me so far. I also think it oxidized on me which Lisa was specifically designing out.I currently don't think it's as good as my Door Forever Glow which is my HG and I loved from first application. I'm disappointed As I really thought Lisa would nail it. I think her shade range is fantastic so she will get a lot of love from people who struggle to find a shade match. For me, although I'm in my 50s I have very good, normal skin and I'm a fairly easy to match light with golden undertones shade. It's not wowing me. I'm really keen to try it as a tinted moisturiser/sheer cover as I do struggle to shade match there but as my every day work look it's not as good as Dior Forever Glow. It's probably in a par with my second favourites of Clinique Even Better (or EB Glow) and my £7.50 Avon Serum Foundation!!

Lisa Eldridge has done a how to video explaining everything about the foundation. Apparently the finish will depend on what you put on underneath it. I have rosácea and it doesn't really cover it up though it didn't settle in my lines.

When she talks about it she used the avgoustinos bader face cream underneath the foundation so maybe it has something to do with the creams you used .

Mine didn’t look good around nose and chin. I used a glowly spf and Bobbi Brown face base . Still not sure what I did . It looks ok outside . I just don’t know what I did wrong I hate when foundations don’t sit on nose and chin
