I'm shocked that through the years the same comments continue to be posted about this song. People...this is not a new song, this is not a Kellie Coffey song, this is not a Lisa Marie song, and it's not Lisa Marie singing in the video. How do so many people not know this song and who sang it? It was a huge hit and one of the most requested songs at the time. The song was released in 2003 by Luther Vandross. It was the title track to his 13th studio album and released as a single. It hit #1 on Billboard's Adult R&B Chart. He wrote it with Richard Marx based on his personal experience. "Dance with my Father" is a tribute to his father, Luther Vandross Sr., who died due to complications of diabetes when he was 8. At the 2004 Grammys he/it won; Best Male R&B Vocal Performance, Song of the Year, and Best R&B Song.

Another one I like is "Daddy, Please don't Cry". Look up Lisa's songs and you'll know this is not Lisa's voice. She has a deeper and lower voice.

I wish you could dance with him again too, just like I wish I could sit and hold hold my Daddy’s hand or have a conversation with him. I saw Elvis in concert once and even though I was as sick as a dog, I wouldn’t leave until he did. It was electric! He had such a presence that he made you feel like he was singing to you and I was really far away, in the Astrodome! Lisa Marie keep honoring your father by singing, you have a wonderful voice. And I hope Elvis is resting in peace, the peace he couldn’t seem to find here.

I am in the same boat! My sister was a nurse and she was murdered twenty five years ago this month. She was forty five !My brother died of cancer in 2004 at 47 years old ! I can only imagine how my mom felt having to bury two of her children! My mom died in 2006 and my dad died in 1999! I can truly empathize with you.
