Despite the lack of context I feel that it adds to these characters and their downward spiral into nobodies. They play these "games" of groups of people pretending to fight each other and the moment an actual violent force comes along their influence basically evaporates. They don't have any guards, letting two random old dudes just tag along because two of them are already gone, and another pair already defected before figuring out how to combat the franchise. We meet them in the middle of all this because in a way they're like the salvation rangers, comical LARPers who disregard anything better to do because of this obsession over a made up game. They're no better than the trash people in the first act, and just like them they're bound to die off, forgotten.

D in Pointless' wiki "Imp D. is based off of a neighbor Ed had in his flat block as a child. This neighbor had an awful smelling apartment, and would often go out to fill plastic bottles with puddle water. Not knowing his name, Ed and the neighboring kids simply referred to the man as "Imp.""

That shift at 6:17 is surprisingly unnerving. Like, the dialogue is funny, but there's this dream-like quality that disturbs me. All this horrific carnage has occurred and Alex barely reacts before having a casual conversation with Joel and Office. It feels like some horrible nightmare where inexplicable, disturbing things keep happening and no one comments on how wrong it all is.

You know It’s funny how this warlords are different to the ones in joyful. In the main game the warlords are figures larger than life, lords of the beat down ( big Lincoln, Cindy gallows’s ) meanwhile in this game the warlords are just old people who are wearing fancy clothes or just joined the franchise

Also, keep in mind the Joyful comes from the perspective of Buddy. One of the hall marks of Lisa is the unreliable narrator. To Buddy the warlords could be larger than life figures, but to Alex they are just old men like him.

First few times I saw this the dialogue felt purposely meaningless, then after a few more watches the dialogue makes more and more sense. Beyond surprised at how ‘deep’ the dev got in this scene considering the context, I shouldn’t be though, after all it’s a LISA game.

Too people that dont know what happened in this scene, here a little explanation; this guys aree the central powers, the leaders of The Game, a big friendly gang war that works likes a literal game where people fight in a non-letal way for fun. Thing is that the infinity franchise is making people start killing each other, and therefore damaging The Game. The central powers them are in this dinner to talk about what they can do to stop the Franchise actions. The central powers are; Long Leg Lenny, Tic-Tonic, John Johnson, Fringe Boy, Shef, Zein Ka, Office Ottoman. They also talked in the dinner about how 2 ex members leaved the game; they are Jessie mack, that joined the franchise, and Silvester de Maistre, that have already leaved more them one time. In the dinner we can see that both Shef and Fringe Boy where also with the franchise and killed almost all the members, with the exeption of LLL that leaved the meeting so he could leave the dying game and go back to his own affiliation, The phone crew. Lester is also a semi-member of the game, because he is the principal food maker of downtown and this makes him a very important person, he is still alive after the meeting. with the death of the central powers, all the gangs that they ruled now are; or dead, or leaving downtown, or joining the franchise.

You know, I expected this fan game to suck and stray away too much from the source material's themes of child abuse, rape, isolation, mental illness, and drug abuse but I love the Eraserhead vibes I get from this scene and the part where Alex talks about his aunts warmed me up to the game focusing on humanity's dwindling numbers so I'm intrigued by this and I will be giving this game a try. Plus, any music from Lisa the First is always welcome (I just hope "Fuck It" makes an appearance).

I feel like Ed being a non-native English speaker adds to the Lynchian atmosphere of this scene specifically. He knows English well but the overly-formal phrases and quaint word choices really conveys the absurdity of what are essentially a group of old men LARPing as warlords in a years (decades?) long play gang-war suddenly having to reconcile with mortality and the final death of hope in a doomed world. All-the-while speaking in exaggerated slang and staying in character as the influence of a supernatural death cult causes them to murder each other.

Two of the people there ended up being from the infinity franchise, a group that viciously kills people as a means of achieving power/enlightenment. The protagonists have seen so much violence and depravity from this gang, and from Olathe in general, that they're desensitized. Basically, they found the sight of people actually sitting down and enjoying a meal at a table more surprising than them brutalizing each other.
