LISA: The Pointless | Ultimate Fix | Sparing Ultra Roland

This is a showcase of a reworked event from the mod I am making.
The mod will be called The Ultimate Fix - it is a mod to the Ultimate Modpack for LISA: The Pointless.
It aims to rework, rewrite and rebalance the game to bring it up at least to the high standard that original Pointless presented.

I'd just like to say this is a much needed rewrite, was content with not really playing ult mod as it didnt really seem worth the time but when this mod comes out i will definitely check it out for sure, thank you for making!

Great job! I really like how the new pre-fight dialogues make it truly feel like Roland has his own party similar to SOTWS original 4

Having a guy listing off all the requirements to spare Roland is a really good idea for the showcase but feels kinda clunky for the actual game, aside from that this is some seriously solid stuff!!

Haha, I know it's clunky! I just remember when I was playing UMP how much I needed that kind of feature, so I think it's better to have such contrivance in the game rather than leave that kind of crutial information out. If anyone has advice how to make it less robotic I'll gladly listen to it!

@@T1Slam have you ever played downtown's mechanic? at the start of the game the first enemy starts listing off moves you can do by telling you not to do them (think in pointless in that fight where the guy yells at you not to throw bottles) which gradually unlocks them, you could do something similar

I like how the stances are all based on animals, but i do have one question. What is the point of steadfast stance if boar stance does the same thing? Why not just replace steadfast?

You're right, I missed that! The reason is that initially I didn't intend Steadfast Stance to be usable. I heard that it was OP and had my composition of stances that I was satisfied with. Then I decided to rename Agony mode into something more desirable, because it isn't about suffering, and rather than just more challenge, so I used the word Steadfast instead. Then I needed a skill for Alex as a reward for completing Idol's "quest" - defeat 4 superbosses. It should have been something special, so I set Steadfast Stance, as the word unintentionally became the key word for this mod. And since you correctly noted that Boar Stance and Steadfast Stance are very similar, I am changing them to be distinct: Boar Stance will just heal and give 20% defence buff, while Steadfast Stance will give 15% hp regen and immunity to common disables. So, thanks for pointing it out!

​​​@@T1Slamidk, based on experience steadfast isn't THAT strong. It initialy gives a 200smth hp heal, then passively heals like 80 each turn. It's not really enough to make a major impact especially when it gets removed by other stances. That being said it did make the Hugo fight a lot easier for me. It also(i think?) Increases def but it's kinda a nothing stat in most fights with exceptions(a lot of enemies seem to completely ignore it, others can be curbstomped by Alex wearing all star helmet, Boxing gloves/Perpetual Ring, and Rando rags. It's kinda funny giving Alex salt crab levels of defense while still having twice as much health as him and way more offensive abilities.). I think the trade off between the Cowboy Stance and Steadfast is fair because one is just generally pretty useful(until infinity unfolds added like 5 infinite heal items like the medals) and Cowboy Stance allows you to use limited bottles to nuke some bosses with Geen and Sapphire coat Also were the stances based off Yogurt's?

Well, we'll see if stances make sense through playtesting soon! Stances were named for animals with the idea to use less common and direct animals. Brad used classic Horse stance and Alex is about Goats, geese, etc. Hmm, maybe I should use "Ferret stance" instead of "Rattlesnake"...

No, the valve is collectable in the side cave in the passage to Roland's place - after completing Trash Enlightenment quest.

I made these skills to be aquirable through leveling instead of items. I have set Velvet Bloom to be a level 11 skill, which you aquire at the last point of Garbage Island if you clear everything out.

@@T1Slam oh, to be honest I would keep it the old way, but I find cool that you nerfed velvet bloom, it was really op, also please just ignore the dude that also commented

@@gabrielyokai2814 we'll see how it turns out in public playtesting. It's all a subject to possible change. Right now Velvet Bloom has 3 turns warmup (3 turns need to pass after battle starts) and 6 turns cooldown, while it also makes Alex fall and costs 100 SP, which means it requires Scheming from Alex to pull off. I hope that balances it enough.

Я сам не знаю, где принято постить моды на фан игры по Лизе - он будет в форме папки Data, а не полноценной игры с exe'шником - нужно будет кидать Data в папку с Ultimate Modpack и запускать так. Я думаю правильно будет выложить на Nexus mods, у меня уже есть там аккаунт.

Well, UMP unites them into one, but does it very sloppily. I'm fixing it up, so this one should be the ultimate rendition of this whole thing.
