I was at the Feb 19 Traviata where Oropesa was simply outstanding, but I wasn't surprised. The first time I heard her was at some outdoor July 4th concert in (Madison?) NJ ten or more years ago. She was maybe the fifth singer to perform. I guess the others were okay. As soon as Oropesa opened her mouth I turned to my wife and said, "This is a singer!" (I had to walk around behind the stage to find out who she was.)
