@@iloveaespaaa lol yes I am insane. I just got so overwhelmed with all of the custom designs out there. So I'm just working with what the game provides with Stables patterns and a couple of the designs provided in the design app. Once I finish this island though I'm gonna start using them again. Basically I'm going to do the same theme three times: a no terraform/no custom design, a no terraform but lots of custom designs, and then full out terraform and custom design island :)

im so glad ur open about not sticking to a theme bc thats always what makes it so hard for me to enjoy decorating my island! I don't really terraform myself and I totally understand a little bit of terraforming for inclines and bridges. On my main island, almost all of it has not been touched. Except for adding a tiny waterfall and pool and then fixing a river so a diagonal bridge could fit. Sometimes the starting islands just don't always work /lh /gen

scaffolding is sometimes built so pedestrians can walk underneath, but that isn't a requirement for it to be scaffolding; scaffolding is just a way for the construction workers to more safely climb/carry materials higher Btw LOVE LOVE LOVE this island!! So cute I'm gonna take so much inspo 😻😻

Your advice at the end is on point. I can't do custom designs and clutter layouts (your island is BEAUTIFUL but I just couldn't do it) and not doing those things makes the game much more fun and gives it lots of longevity.

I feel so much kinship with you, honestly. I love the aesthetic that you went with, and I've always struggled with cluttered builds because it felt like it made it hard to enjoy the game itself. covering EVERY tile to have a dedicated spot for the money trees, fossils, and gyroids to spawn is GENIUS!! i've covered most tiles to get a rock garden, and making a "spawn garden" is not that much more work for an incredibly convenient result!

I also started with the exact same map layout as you (with a little differences on the beaches ) and also did very minimal terraforming. I restarted so it was also my second island, I had spent over 1000 hours in my first terraforming, so wanted to spend less time this go around. It’s so awesome to see what you’ve been able to do with the island, and inspires me to finish. I just gotta do an outdoor food court area and also finalize villager houses and my own. I’ve always wanted to have a no terraforming island but I’ve attempted it twice and got stuck on 4 stars, and didn’t feel happy with how it turned out. I restarted last month and I’ve gone somewhere in between. I’ve added some cliffs and water but I’ve also kept much of the original structure, with third level cliffs at the back and most of the original rivers and ponds still there. It’s worked quite well I think!
