I also think the announcement of the end of pocket camp was so sudden! They just casually dropped a bomb and dipped, I wonder if all the attention is really on another big project..! :o And you make a good point that there are no ads, it really doesn't feel like some mobile game where you have to watch ads every other minute.. "Hey! Watch this 30 second short ad to shake another fruit tree!" Can you even imagine? Basically, it's a really nice game that you don't have to spend any money on and still enjoy it comfortably, still can't believe it's been that long since it came out! 13:05 Btw this part is cinematic peak, I shed a tear

I'm hoping it's the case that we are getting a new AC mobile game to accompany the next game! I think it'd be in good hands assuming it's the same team, plus i'd love to see how they'd link a mainline game with whatever new thing they give us! and yes, the neremik2 cgi budget truly knows no limits

It is! I don't think anyone expected it to be as supported as it was when it first launched, so to be in the state where there's 8 years of content to now re-run in the paid app is super impressive!

Omg this was such a great video to find on my recommended! I usually don’t meet or see people who have played this game more than the first month or so, and most people are pretty meh on it but I loved it very much! I never expected it to be a replacement for a main title game and I liked that it just ran on my phone and I could do dailies and events really quickly. I loved decorating my camp and trying to craft every furniture I physically could. I played it solidly every day from launch until a year after Genshin impact came out and then I also quit playing pocket camp after Genshin took over! But I genuinely loved this game and hearing it was shutting down I ran back to spend my 6000+ leaf tickets I had accumulated …

Oooh, I feel that. Pretty sure I started playing less around the time I got into Genshin too, whenever I had to pick what game I wanted to play on break, getting my dailies in there always seemed to win out! Also I entirely get the first bit about rarely running into people who actively play Pocket Camp. Most of the top videos tend to be either "Is it good?" or first impressions from way back when, and I swear my twitter algorithm makes sure I see barely and Pocket Camp posts too! Glad to hear you've also had a fun experience with the game, and I hope you enjoy the paid version if you choose to get it!

I've played the game since launch and I do think that assuming that people who have an issue with the monetization must have never played it and have been influenced by an image of Tom Nook that I assure you most people haven't ever seen before is missing the mark. Right now if you want access to everything the game is offering you need to pay for I believe 3 different full-priced subscriptions. For a bit I was under the impression that it was one but no, there's the helper one, the cookie one, and the journal one. Leaf tickets are fairly common, yes, but you will almost surely not complete a single cookie using only LTs you get for free. Some people are fine with this monetization model, some aren't, but yeah, I think that it's mostly only people who actually play the game that are bothered by this.

Some fair points! The aim of that section was to cover on a little about how Nintendo didn't do the game too many favors by making it easy to hate from an outsider's perspective. Especially in 2017, a lot of people were averse to playing mobile games because of the notion they'd ram ads or microtransactions down your throat, so I think in the aspects I mentioned in the video that Nintendo could've done things a little differently to give people a better first impression. That said, you're entirely right about the impact of the monetization on the people who did decide to pick up the game. I always found Leaf Tickets to be abundant enough to where I could save for a cookie and have it not feel like a day in/day out chore, but with how Pocket Camp handled announcing re-runs and new event items, it did make it hard to know if a set I desperately wanted was coming up, which would naturally push me toward buying leaf tickets since I had less time to get them for free. You're also on point about the subscriptions, I think having 3 was pushing it a bit, especially the $8 cookie plan. The other two I could justify since they cost way less, but for being the most expensive plan that one really didn't land the mark. As you touched on, I think having all three bundled into a single one as a reduced cost would've been a better way to handle it. That said, I still don't think announcing them as an anniversary update wasn't the smartest move. Anniversaries are meant to give back to the players usually, not find a way to earn more money from them!

i'm really sad to see pocket camp go, i was playing from very early on, i discovered this game on my own by accident and i couldn't believe they made a free animal crossing game! without any experience of previous animal crossing titles a really just fell in love with this game. now, it's closing down and it's a long goodbye for me. russia is blocked from purchasing anything from google play and i cannot but the game. i really want to play from the launch day, but i cannot :( i understand why russia has those restrictions on it, but on a personal level i can't help but grief pocket camp. i'm playing everyday, till the end day. maybe when i move out from this hellhole i can purchase it then.. great video! thank you for sharing your thoughts and feeling about this game, i really enjoyed watching!

Thank you for the nice words! It's a shame that the Google Play ban won't let you get the new version when it launches, would it be possible for you to use something like a VPN to get around it perhaps?

so sad to see this game go, honestly this was such a good way to catter towards people who can´t afford the actual animal crossing, like me lol. Now that it's going offline, will i still need wifi to play? that was one of my biggest turn off ha

You'll only need WiFi to download your save data from my understanding, so you should be able to play offline in the new version!

Oh my you've made a another PC video, what a suprise! Not as much upon finding you on my yt recommendations haha! When i first discovered that it was shutting down, it was a enough drive into making me install it. I wanted to experience it at its final moments especially since it was my first AC game afterall, it deserved to be treated with respect. Now with the paid version coming near, it was a even stronger incentive. While it's bittersweet see it go, i'm happy with the way they are handling its closure. They recognize how much it means to so many ppl, and due to it, they're giving it a final satisfying hoorah. From what i seen with the community surrounding this game, they have been nothing but sweet. Which shows how great the love and effort goes into the game. :] (P.s: 14:25 Oh hey, who's that commentator with the rosie pfp? they seem cool ^v^)

They're ending service of the game, but moving it to an offline version to preserve it! That version will have a few months more of regular content once it launches.
